The FIFA assigned an American referee to USA-Belgium. Playing time will depend on when the USA has scored more than Belgium. The rule that a ball has to have entered a goal is abandoned. What goal to score in will be decided afterwards by the referee. The VAR got a peace prize. Let’s see who’ll win!

Massive earthquake in Venezuela, 130 km west of Caracas, on the main Caribbean-South America plate boundary. A double event of 7.2 and 7.5. Fear for major casualties and damage. The quake occurred on a triple junction with yet another major fault. This does not look good 🙁.

Spread the word: We have a vacancy for a PhD student at the interface of geology and ecology/biology! Do you want to study - also in the field - how volcanism of the Cape Verde islands, and probably more, influenced ecosystem resilience? Come work with us in Utrecht! www.uu.nl/en/organisat...

PhD: does an island’s geologic history predict its ecosystem resilience today

Curious about the relationship between geological history of islands and the resilience of their ecosystems in the face of human-induced environmental change?

The new Paleolatitude.org web tool is getting media coverage, like in Vice magazine. It's appeared in dozens of countries on almost every continent, and the site had >300.000 visitors since last Thursday. If you haven't checked it out: have a look! @uugeo.bsky.social www.vice.com/en/article/s...
