One of the things I notice when playing through Quake II, is that Id Software borrowed much of Doom 3's sound effects and gameplay loop directly from it. Ammo pickups, the way weapons feel, the gotcha-closets full of ambushing baddies, and the crawlspaces full of secrets were all carried over.

Quake's walk is most other game's sprint, and Quake's sprint is like being on roller skates. You'll need it too, as many enemies can bean you in the face with grenades using sniper accuracy. Plus, the game's combat loop favors splash damage weapons over suppressive fire, so it's rockets on skates.

It's sad when a relatively new artist blows up from good art, but isolates from their followers. No likes or comment replies, no interaction in their own Discord or Telegram groups, zero. I get it's overwhelming, but even cherry picking is better than nothing. Loneliness and depression hold hands
I don't play VN's so I feel like maybe I dodged a bullet here, but the discourse I see about a particular one I've just been made vaguely aware of has me feeling in no uncertain terms about the nature of art. Not every song, movie, or book is happy, nor should be. Why should this be any different?
Had to reinstall windows -again- last night because the previous restore attempt (which kept my settings) somehow corrupted ownership of my files, locking me out of stuff. So I did a full clean install and update back to current factory spec. All I wanted to do was play Quake for an hour, but no.
