I can't believe I've lived in Scotland for nearly 12 years and I just found out about the island in Loch Lomond with a colony of wild Wallabies. That should be in the damn Life in the UK test

Sainsbury's had gravlax on sale so for breakfast we had a classic LEO (lox, eggs, and onion) with the end of a loaf of homemade shokupan. Cat approved

A small plate with scrambled eggs and salmon gravlax and toast trianglesA fluffy grey cat furiously licking the remains of eggs, butter, and any salmon juices

For International Cat Day she got taken to the vet where she was rudely poked and prodded (and told she was a beautiful lady in rude health with the vitality of a cat half her age, but still. Unacceptable!)

A beautiful black cat getting her tummy rubbed

LET'S FUCKIN GOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!! TRAINS! TRAINS! TRAINS! TRAINS! Also, Transport Scotland, it's embarrassing that you're still on X the everything app and I had to yank this graphic from a different platform

Flyer showing the Caledonian Sleeper on its platform. In Waverley, reading "We committed to exploring the potential for a direct Caledonian Sleeper service to mainland Europe and I am pleased this work is now underway"

I hate this particular video format so much: "Did you know that if you [combine the ingredients for a dish and go through the procedures to cook it] you'll get this [name of dish possibly with OTT description]" Like yes, I'm farmiliar with the concept of a recipe. Yes.

I don't understand who buys automatic bobbin winders. Every sewing machine includ s a bobbin winder. My Singer from 1917 has a bobbin winder. They've been an integral component since the beginning of sewing machines. You also don't need bobbins unless you are machine sewing. Who are these for?

I have been listening to a podcast about the history of tea in Britain and now I want a nice pot of tea and some hot buttered toast with marmalade so badly.

Very excited, yet I can't help but think that as a dual citizen it would be really handy for me if these were still burgundy, just a different colour than the US really

Cover of a British passport, which are blue again now which was extremely important to some very weird people

One of these days I really need to write up that essay about how Terry Pratchett's depiction of goblins seems informed by an understanding of antisemitism in European history and so rather than having goblins who portray antisemitic tropes, his goblins live on the margins of society....

It really says a lot about the quality of Burger King's beef that the plant-based whopper tastes not only more beefy but even more grilled. It's genuinely just much tastier

After I die, if you try and contact me through a ouija board, you'll know it's really me when the spirit painstakingly explains the ideomotor effect, one letter at a time

It occurs to me that Western Washington can best be described as: What if Norway had Scotland's weather? Beautiful mountain vistas, incredible evergreen forests, usually pissing it down and slightly chilly
