An AI system ran the full research pipeline – formed a hypothesis, wrote and debugged its own experimental code, produced the manuscript – and passed blind peer review. Published in Nature & co-authored by Vector Faculty Member Jeff Clune: 🧵
The final episode of our #ICML2026 paper series: machine learning applied to the hardest problems in biology and chemistry. Genomics, quantum chemistry, and materials science. 🧵
Trust in AI isn't just about safety guardrails. Vector Faculty Members at #ICML2026 are examining honesty, privacy, accountability, and whether AI quietly erodes human autonomy. 🧵
When a vision-language model gets a question wrong, is it because it couldn't see or couldn't think? Vector researchers at #ICML2026 are unpacking both, and finding the answer changes how you train. 🧵
Can reinforcement learning teach AI genuinely new reasoning skills – or just surface what the base model already knows? Vector Faculty Members at #ICML2026 sharpen the answer: 🧵
[1/4] 🇰🇷 Excited to present our new paper “Frequentist Consistency of Prior-Data Fitted Networks for Causal Inference” at ICML 2026 in Seoul. The paper asks a simple question: when PFNs are used for causal inference, do their uncertainty estimates actually agree with classical frequentist inference?
#ICML2026 kicks off in Seoul next week, and Vector is heading in with 73 accepted papers! Our researchers are presenting work across some of the most active areas in AI right now:
Bias in AI training data doesn't disappear when you fine-tune the model. It gets learned, with rates measured as high as 38.5 per cent in training datasets.
