This is a self portrait I made years ago. I used an image of my head as a reference for a genetic algorithm that evolves mathematically unsavory tweaks to the Mandelbrot set. I called it "Mandeltweak" in front of the man himself during a presentation. He was in the audience...snoring. I laugh now.
This image shows a discovery of mine: how plane-filling curves of the same family tessellate with each other. I plan to get to the bottom of this and describe it in my new book, "Brainfillers: the Art and Math of Space-filling Fractal Curves". It will be published next year by A.K Peters/CRC Press!
