This is a good example of the fear that ICE has engendered in so many. A man here completely legally with nothing (on paper) to fear from ICE took off running when they showed up at a gas station and was struck by a passing truck. Awful.

One thing I noticed after a day of being considered for jury duty, without revealing details of the specific case I was considered for, is that a sizeable number of people are unwilling to "take a police officer's word for it."
It's lunacy that our criminal justice system requires jurors to agree to go along with exactly the definitions of particular concepts and terms the judge of a given case sets forth. Each term should be framed in the context of the actual Constitutional understanding of these rights and guidelines.
A five-alarm fire. We've had many of those in the last two years but this one is particularly loud and alarming.

I can't believe I submitted a story to a publication called Black Scat Books. But to be fair to me, their flier for their anthology looked pretty solid. Still, advise you to stay away. They arbitrarily decided that my inadvertently sending a simultaneous submission was an unpardonable sin.

So much of the hoarding of resources by American oligarchs is simply to keep those resources from the rest of us and encourage our compliance via our desperation.
Say what you will about the logic of starting a war with Iran, but at least the Iranian government now knows they can bring the global economy to heel with one relatively small assertion of their regional control.
Bring back bullying exclusively for people who use AI without a shred of intellectual engagement.
