Vice Western Nights - December 5th!

I entered Vicbrew, the Victorian Amateur Brewing Championships. My Tropical Stout came 5th out of 11 entries in the Strong Stout category, scoring a 35.6/50 average (VERY GOOD). My Festbier came 19th of 35 in the Pale Lager category, scoring a 32/50 average (GOOD). Not bad for my first comp!

Part of a score card, which shows the 0-50 scoring guide, plus a written Overall Impression of the Tropical Stout from one of the judges which reads: "An interesting beer with a good balance of hop flavour + fruity sweetness + roasted notes. A lift in sweetness + slight reduction in roast note would lift but this should be a fine tuning. Solid base, well done"An excerpt from another scorecard. This overall impression from one of the judges discusses my Festbier and it reads: "This beer presents more as a 'session' Festbier. Both malt and hops are too low for style. It's well brewed + balanced but just needs a bit more 'oomph'." The judge rated it 30/50, which is the lowest score I received, but still within the "Good: not quite to style and/or minor flaws" range.A picture of my "I Don't Like Cricket" Tropical Stout, poured into a tankard-style glass sitting next to the bottle. It's a dark brown beer with a tan coloured foamy head.A low-angle shot of my "Simply the Fest" Festbier, poured into a pint glass, sitting next to the bottle with my handwritten label on it. The beer is pale straw coloured, clear enough to see the shamrock from the other side of the pint glass, and there are a lot of little bubbles visible from this angle that form the beer's white head.

Soo photos from the VICE Photobooth came out! I've been holding off posting until they came out, so huzzah! Actually my first photo from any such event, so a milestone! A purple suited cat, an orange black puppy deer, and a pink femboi dingo, starring @angypaws.com !
