There are many virtues of a good friend: empathy, trust, loyalty, respect, etc. are all admirable. But in hot weather, an often overlooked quality is being more attractive to biting insects than you are.

Interesting that, so far as I’m aware, without this being discussed, we seem to have implicitly authorised tech companies to take these ‘risks’ on our behalf?

This is, of course, stupid. Technology was supposed to have us work less - not more. But, as I've said over and over, it's not AI and what it can do we should fear, but who owns it and what they'll do with it.
