Kids just finished releasing the butterflies they observed from caterpillar There's something magical watching my barefooted children chasing, catching, & releasing butterflies right before sunset

My kids were absolutely fascinated with tuning our emergency radio & asking if they can have one next time we hike/camp Is this the moment to take advantage of & get them into Ham radio?

First backpacking trip with just me & the kids went great! I love that I get to share my love for doing things like this with them Also, they were digging becoming 'jr wilderness rangers' learning things like leave no trace in a booklet the ranger station gave them before we started

Finalizing packing for a little backpacking trip with the kids and it's wild to me that they're old enough that I can actually consider packing the sleeping bags in *their* packs I'm pretty excited for some quality dad-kid time outdoors

On this whole daylight savings vs standard time, which is actually the best is likely minor but realizing I'm usually waking up before the sun most days when it would matter anyways (yes standard is probably better, but having the time change twice a year is the worst)

We appreciate the love ❤️ But limited engagement and few followers on Bsky makes some (not us!) question whether it's worth it Be sure to follow (and share with your ML friends!) if you want to see more updates from ICML!

Been using this TUI in my ghostty terminal so much where I have to enter ALT+ENTER that it started breaking my brain and I've accidentally been sending messages elsewhere using this instead of making a newline I need to figure out a work around before I'm broken forever

Every summer I try to open windows & position fans to best cool down the home, and every time I think back to my time in university physics I have a vivid memory of a professor saying they use concepts in E&M to wrap their head around fluid dynamics— aka 'fluid dynamics is *complicated*'

Was showing a coworker the number of downloads for this package I'm now in charge of & explaining that it clearly has a weekday-weekend pattern but I can't figure out why numbers significantly dropped this month Then I realized the root cause— the classic "students are on summer break" #databs

A line chart titled "Daily Download Quantity of tpu-info package - Overall". The x-axis represents the Date, ranging from December 22 (12-22) to June 15 (06-15), and the y-axis represents Downloads, ranging from 0 to 120,000. A legend indicates two categories: "With_Mirrors" (blue) and "Without_Mirrors" (orange). The visible data shows a highly volatile zig-zag pattern, frequently oscillating between valleys of roughly 20,000 and peaks up to 120,000 downloads, before experiencing a sharp, sustained drop to below 20,000 downloads starting in late May.

Was randomly going through some old photos & came across my first Raspberry Pi Travel back with me to 2012 where I was taking pictures of my Model B with a rooted used HTC Droid Incredible (damn that nostalgia hits hard — I should go fiddle w/ hardware for fun again)

Secret goal of when your kid is sick at home is not making it too interesting so they actually want to go to school Well I failed— had to take my kid sick w/ a tummy bug with me to the dentist & they got a whole tour while they let them pretend to be a dentist too They're never going to school now

Welp I almost started a fire— how's your morning going? Melted my battery charger by putting a battery backwards. It heated all up to the point it was smelling & only noticed because I went to check if it was done I think I need a 'smarter' charger because I know I won't be getting any smarter

Played Robot Turtles with the kids for the first time (handy-me-down w/ never being opened) & they had such a good time! We modified it so we started over until we completed the full 'program'. It was cool seeing them essentially discovering step-through debugging as a strat

Nothing makes you realize how bad your mobile keyboard typing is like trying to ssh & work on a terminal emulator through your phone (But also thank you termux for existing like forever)

It is just so fun to wake up at the beginning of a long weekend & go right into messing around building little coding projects While vibe coding can help get past the slog, it is still really fun to do some trad coding in a TUI along the way as you make it your own

Nothing breaks your heart faster than having to tell your feverish kid they're going to have to miss the talent show they've been practicing for But cuddling up with the dogs on the couch watch "Kiki's Delivery Service" seems to be helpful
