Should have looked before I leapt. 8BitDo receivers are not compatible with this ‘Switch 2’ controller. So, it’s my Switch Pro controller for the time being until I get a BlueRetro dongle. Bit shit.

Games Complete 2026 #23 Mafia Definitive Edition Pretty as heck, but obviously showing its age structurally, having more in common with Team Soho’s Getaway games as opposed to GTA. Kinda entertaining, kinda middle of the road, mercifully brief as there’s not much meat here.

Certainly the Desert Convoy and footchase with Talbot are up there with the best of UC. The combat however feels less strategic, unbalanced even, due to cheeky spawns and spongey wags.

Just leagues beyond what Naughty Dog achieved with Drake’s Fortune. Set-pieces and eye candy for days and a far more robust combat model. And it’s still charming. You did good, Drake.

However, years of AC has taught me this is one of the better ones and (like CoD of the era) demands to be played a certain way. It’s also interesting that Odyssey lifted its best bits.
Just casually remembering that yes, I do have a CD32 and a reasonable selection of games. And two copies of Microcosm for some reason.

Confusing, obtuse, visually disorienting and equally stunning. A great big ego trip for Sam Lake. Maybe that was the plot or the point. I forget which one. The Final Draft can do one for now.
It’s widely agreed that the representation of Africa and Africans in RE5 was largely tone deaf and leaned heavily into racist tropes. A white guy shooting Spanish people doesn’t make a game racist. A game that represents Black people as grass skirt wearing spear-chucking aggressors is.
I think Game may finally be winding up kids, so make hay.

To be fair, Motorfest is clearly laser focused at shitting in Horizons breakfast and clearly some money has been spent to achieve that goal. But the handling, like all the latest NFS games, is too safe, too predictable and not in a naturally intuitive way. Basically every car feels front wheel drive
Now vs Then Now: Installed Motorfest and fully updated it two weeks ago, prior to my Alan Wake II jaunt. Today however. Then: AC4 Black Flag OG installed off the disc. Mostly. No updates required.
Actually, I believe The Falkland Islands belong to the islanders themselves.

You can see the bones of what Uncharted was set to become, because the body is ghoulishly thin. Funny physics, bullet sponges and a mostly broken cover system. Adios asshole.
