Designing for Life in Urban India | 3–7 April 2026 This workshop is organised by Kalpavriksh – in collaboration with Sambhaavnaa Institute. Co-created by the subgroup of The Alternatives Learning Collective(TALC) Hosted under the Vikalp Sangam process 🌱

What might our cities look and feel like if they were designed as homes for life, human and more-than-human alike? This 5-day immersive course invites you to explore ecological design, the metacrisis and grounded alternatives shaping regenerative urban futures. Through talks, discussions, hands-on learning, storytelling and collective reflection, we will reimagine how we live, work and care in cities. Thematic focus areas include urban governance, food and health, and energy. Open to anyone curious about ecological living, urban transformation, social justice and regenerative futures. 📅 3–7 April 2026 (Participants are expected to arrive on the 2nd April) 📍 Sambhaavnaa Institute, Palampur Applications close 25 March 2026. 🌊 Fourth Indus River walk, 28th-31st August 2025 The fourth Indus River walk by Kalpavriksh and Snow Leopard Conservancy India trust was hosted on the banks of river Indus close to Shaara village where the team camped for 3 nights.

Fourth Indus River walk, 28th-31st August 2025 The fourth Indus River walk by Kalpavriksh and Snow Leopard Conservancy India trust was hosted on the banks of river Indus close to Shaara village where the team camped for 3 nights. The group trekked to Shaang valley where they learned about the intrinsic connection of snow leopards and other trans himalayan wildlife with rivers. The walk was filled with creative activities such as river meditations, nature writing, birding, story telling, painting and understanding interdependence of riverine communities including humans and more than humans and lots of singing along the Singee Khababs. The walk was joined by students of Ladakh university, members of Tar village, and members of KV and SLC-IT. This year's walk was a constant reminder of how climate change is impacting river ecology, and transforming our ecosystems at an accelerated and drastic rate.
