No art made with love, conviction, and genuine effort is bad art. It might not live up to the expectations you set for yourself (it rarely does, even for those of us who do it for a living), but it's real and it's yours, that makes it beautiful.

The photos you were shown in school of Nazi book burnings are from the raid on the Institute for Sexual Science. They were burning us, our history, our belonging in this world. It is still burning. You either choose to help put out the fire or accept it.
Political consultant: Imagine a job where you can get absolutely everything wrong and never get your clients any positive results and yet continue to get hired. DNC keeps making the same mistakes on repeat. It stops looking like incompetence and starts looking like deliberately throwing the match.
Some things are classic for a reason, but just because something has survived, doesn't mean it's good or correct. Nostalgia might be comforting, but it's also a trap and a cage. What spoke to you as a youth might have been truly great or you might have just been a kid. Discernment is hard.
The eternal struggle between wanting to brag about stuff you should be proud of and the need to not incriminate yourself.
To my fellow cis gays: They told us to shut up because we were pushing away potential voters, too. It's the same playbook on repeat. Why are you falling for the same nonsense we fought so hard against?

You know, when you find out that the art you like is made by people you've learned hold views you find wholly repugnant, I don't think you need to disavow ever having enjoyed the art. It's okay to acknowledge you liked or loved that art, but are now putting it aside. That was then, this is now.
