Apparently, I now have to verify my age in order to read direct messages (or access 'adult content' - though TBH, I didn't realise there was any on Bluesky). Therefore, please don't DM me.

"Updates in progress..." 7% 12% 35% Restarting... 40% 57% Restarting And so on until... 100% Restarting... *restarts* "Updates in progress..." 100% Restarting... *restarts* [Several times until it's finally done] So it wasn't 100% at those restart stages, then, was it Microsoft. 🤬
In the writing up this, there was much swearing due to me accidentally touching the touchpad frequently and causing random things to happen, because these things are a stupid idea and whoever invented them (or at least certain UX aspects of them) should be tortured for eternity.
Aside to my misunderstanding of a basic way the system variables are handled in my favourite operating system after only 37 (?) years of using it... While emptying a shelving unit to move it, I found this. (BC1 = "Barclaycard 1" - I think this was my first mobile phone.)
I clearly didn't make it clear in my previous syntax reply - you CANNOT specify the SysVar using <this> syntax: That immediately *replaces* the reference before executing the command, it's part of OS_CLI's functionality. You must write Sys$Var, not <Sys$Var>

Hmm. Fully tested and working: * a function to read a sys var (already in my library, and known working, but I've checked and retested it). * the main program code that calls that function. * the comparison code including the ! prefix to represent not. To reiterate: all tested and working. 1/?
I take that back. I wasn't paying full attention to one aspect of this - it is a hosted phish, rather than self contained in the link.
The capabilities of modern web browsers are astoundingly good. Abilities such as opening a link to a web page that doesn't actually exist - the page is wholly generated by the link and makes it look like it's found on an innocent domain. (It's a phish attempt looking for Microft logins)

Missed a call from my mum yesterday afternoon. Nothing important. Just spotted a Whatsapp missed call notification timed at 2:17 this morning from my mum. Immediately called her, because that's a worrying time for a call. No. The notification was re yesterday's missed call. WTF Whatsapp. 🤬
Haha. If I've successfully aimed my video camera (awkward for reasons) it's recording a total eclipse by a cloud of the partial #eclipse.
I'm starting to feel a bit of a chill - almost like my ex is using her dark witchcraft to extinguish the sun, or something. Might have to pop on a jumper.
Another first edition for my very small, but very slowly growing collection. 🙂

WaitUntil. I'm going to add a new check to it - one that, TBH, should have been there from the start, but I didn't think of it until a conversation this week. The check will be if a sys var contains a particular value. However, having looked at the source code... (bearing in mind it's quite old)
If you provide a spam filtering service that treats suspected phishing more strongly than other spam, so the end victim of the system has to 'request' false positives be delivered, requiring human intervention at the other end... Then FFS... ACT ON THE FUCKING REQUESTS. 🤬
This. I mostly avoid 'buying' digital because of this risk. (The few things I have bought on Amazon Prime, for example, are things I really wanted to see, but only bought them when I was able to do so at a decently low price).
We will end up losing everything digital if it continues this way. Books, games, films, music, animation, art, TV will be lost along with all other digital content that is slowly being taken away from us. You pay a license fee to access content under very strict terms that are not in your favour.
Random thing that's probably stupidly obvious but has only just occurred to me. The operator follow mode some drones have is basically how the 'camera' works in the Tomb Raider games - long before modern drones were a thing.. (Other games too, but TR is the one that jumped out in my memory).
Oops. I don't think this is meant to happen. 🫤 I'm not superhuman (hell, some might argue I'm barely even human). It's just cheap crap supplied with the thing I've just started putting together. Hopefully, I can find one amongst my not-organised, and not exactly together, tools. I.e. somewhere. 🤷♂️
