Calling winemakers to get some quotes for a story I'm working on, and some are saying, "Sorry, can't talk, we've started harvest." And they're not harvesting grapes for sparkling wine. That was last week and the week before. It's July 24th FFS.

DAMMIT! NOT SAM NEILL!! A shocking and unexpected loss to hear about this morning. Those of us connected to NZ wine knew not the immensely talented Hollywood celeb, but a kind, funny man who loved an ugly pig, a farm, an industry, and a country. RIP. You'll be sorely missed.

So wine world, what do we think about Michelin's new ratings for Burgundy? Only 94 producers highlighted, and only nine 3-grape ratings. The "reviews" if you can call them that, are befuddling. Some reference specific vintages, others are generic AF. guide.michelin.com/g...

Chuffed, as my British friends would say, to be a finalist for the 67 Pall Mall Global Wine Communicator awards @67pall_mall. It's a great group of immensely talented finalists to be amongst. I wish all my colleagues the best of luck (but secretly want @MaluLambert to win!).
