Last year I lost my lovely Lola Cat. She was, I believe somewhere between 17 and 18 years old. She was a 10month mother and a feral cat when she came to me. She was never a lap cat, but she enjoyed being an indoor-outdoor cat. This is the rose I planted over her ashes. Rosa Lola.

A cluster of ruby red rose flowers and buds held up by a white-painted wood pyramid.

Her Borrowed Grave #UrbanFantasy 🌃📚 Caroline Walters wants to finish her tapestry, based on an unfinished Old English poem, but for some reason, the universe has decided to fill her time without childcare responsibilities by dropping her headfirst into situation beyond her understanding. 8 October

An open book is propped on a pile of other books and scrolls. The image on the left page shows a knight and his lady surrounded by roses. The image on the right shows a line-drawing of a woman. Text reads. Meet Caroline. English Teacher. Mother. Mostly holding it together. When she weaves tapestries using designs handed down her family for generations, it has unexpected results.

I wonder if I can make a mock spear as a place holder for the armoury at Wolf's Head Hall. A bit of wood, some plaster of paris and maybe some sticky backed plastic. 😂

Armourial banners hang beside a tapestry of 'Saturday night letting out time done in the style of the Bayeux Tapestry'. Below that a poster calling all English men to join the navy. His and hers rapier hang alongside (it's one way to solve arguments). A model two handed sword hangs near a replica viking axe. Two replica flintlock pistols are mounted on a frame above a Cavalry sabre. The final items in the armoury are the antique police truncheons.

Here's a book I'm waiting for. 1st September. #Booksky Make the grid in Brazil—or it's over. Six weeks. One broken team. Leila Moreau dreams of racing at the pinnacle of motorsport. Can Leila prove herself with Aurora? A basement team better suited to the 1970s than the 21st Century.

A flyer for The Last Garagiste. A helmeted woman's face above a an F1 racing car.
Text reads: The Last Garagiste. If you want to wind - first you must survive. 1st September 2026 kindle - kindle unlimited - paperback - hardback.

It's Book Quote Wednesday and today's #BookQW word is 'busy'. In this extract from The Waterborne Blade Alwenna's plans have gone wrong and the enigmatic freemerchant Marten has intervened for reasons she has yet to learn. As ever, he's saying a lot but telling her very little.

Cover of The Waterborne Blade by Susan Murray. A woman in an ornate gown is moving past the viewer, a long dagger held in her blood-spattered right hand. Cover art by Paul Young.

Extract from The Waterborne Blade by Susan Murray:

“It is the time of year when dust storms blow up without warning. Squalls so wild the sand shreds the flesh of the unwary traveller. So powerful they can redraw the landscape in a couple of hours. So enduring they can block out the sun for days at a time.”

Erin pursed her lips and said nothing more.

“Discussing the weather is all well and good, Marten,” Alwenna said. “But we should be on the road already, and now the whole palace is astir. Do you mean to help us or hinder us?”

“I mean to help you, of course. I named you sister, did I not?” He prodded at the bloodied cloak with his foot. “Whose is this?”

“The cloak, or the blood?” Alwenna hardly cared what he thought at that stage. It could only be a matter of time before the [REDACTED] was found. Their bold escape plan had only taken them from bad to worse. And now Erin – hitherto free of any suspicion – was drawn in by her guilt.

“They do not belong to one and the same person? By the Goddess, you have been busy.”

I think my posts about my new book are getting noticed. I had 17 scammers offering reviews and goodness knows what in my personal email, and 24 scammers in my writing email. Though I have to say some of them were the same person. 😂🤣😂

Gosh, I wish Bluesky would make its mind up. It wouldn't let me in for 8 months. Then let me back in only to refuse admittance yesterday afternoon. And now I'm permitted entry again.
