Saw a tweet on my sock-puppet account saying that the Bluesky people had it right about Platner, and nothing will top the Platner-flavored gaslighting of the person who replied that it was *actually* the leftists who had it right, and those who had cheered him on weren't the real leftists.

Andrew. I read books, I teach words, I argue on internet for fun and despair. #TheWheelOfTime. Normie dem/pragmatic realism. Magic the Gathering, Elden Ring, coffee, cats. Was @von_todwin on Twitter. He/him
Gonna try to keep to my "once the Maine primary is over, keep my mouth shut and just hope for as little nat'l attention on the race as possible" ...but since it's not *technically* over, would still really like Platner to drop out, and I still imagine we're only seeing tip of the iceberg so far.
They're gonna text them (unsecured, of course) a treasure map with an X to guide through the possible mines, with an added note saying "we're pretty sure." (except not actually on that last part, because they won't bother to let anyone know they don't know for sure).
Trump said the U.S. would start guiding commercial ships out of the Strait of Hormuz. The plan doesn’t involve U.S. warships escorting the vessels.
"My [relative] taught me this" and "I learned this from a [some profession or person from another country]" should be bannable language on TikTok and all reels-style formats from now on.
On the one hand, I'm embarrassed at this new Doordash feature (at least, new for me?) telling me how many times I've ordered wonton soup. No regrets though. On the other hand, I'd like to apologize for the deaths of thousands of Jedi I caused right after taking this screenshot.
Okay, class, for the second part of today's activity, review the text the AI generator produced, and look for at least five places where it doesn't stand in authentic wonder before the beauty of God's creation. *refuses to elaborate* *plays lofi worktime music*
Pope Leo XIV told students not to use artificial intelligence for homework, saying that AI ‘won’t stand in authentic wonder before the beauty of God’s creation.’
I don't wanna do Robert Jordan dirty with a comparison like this, but man, Lil Baby Hegseth's Operation "Southern Spear" really is the "North Harbor" of nationalistic military operations meant to distract from the reveal of documents suggesting Donald Trump to be a pedophilic sex trafficker.
I don't think I can ever forgive society for reaching such a state where I had to learn about the election system of freaking Utah.
Playing Fire Emblem Three Houses for the first time, and having gotten to the post-time-skip where some of the prior students show up older and fighting for the enemy, with their one-liners explaining their choice, just gonna say I want there to be a Super Troopers DLC.
Basically this meme, but with Hegseth doing angry pullups and asking if a man with severe emotional inadequacies would do this.

Old enough to remember this EO from days ago that called law enforcement a foundational principle, and claimed an indication of leftist extremist terrorist sympathies was being anti-law enforcement. How strange that of four prominent shootings recently, only the QAnon guy killed law enforcers.
I feel like there has to be some good wordplay on this new housewares tariff and IKEA. Currently going with: n at IKEA: the TÄRÜFF. Available in SHTOOPÏD and TÄKKS styles.
Sequel to "it's inappropriate to call his statement a 'lie' unless we get sworn testimony from him that he knows it to be untrue and he didn't mean it as hyperbole, irony, satire, or a postulated bizarro-world he was workshopping for a short story" that we got from places like NYT in the first term.

tods travels back in time: "Hey, you guys consider support for law enforcement a foundational principle, right?" Random colonial: "SORRY, can't right hear ya over the screams of this here fella we're pouring hot tar onto for enforcing unjust laws."
So I know very little about photojournalism, but I feel like you take this picture, complete with the sign in the corner vowing not to let ICE get away with what they're doing (that the thumbnail cropped for some reason), you *gotta* be like "that's a Pulitzer, baby." Anyway, 😭😭😭

I will happily accept Merana being faster than 13 of the people running from the grizzly, and Androl not even being top 20.
The votes are in! We pitted 125 unseen Wheel of Time characters against each other in a massive, fan-voted survey. Over 60,000 matchups later, we have the definitive list of who the fandom wants to see next on the show. Check out the results & our full breakdown: wix.to/J1vDuBn #TheWheelofTIme
Okay so was using memes as a way for my students to practice analyzing genre, and *I* thought this was clever. And it *totally* landed. 100%. Everyone loved it. Yessir. ... 😭😭😭
I miss #WotSkies. And the general sense of being at a slightly higher ring of hell than we currently occupy.
So, maybe this guy's on the left, maybe not, but it's weird to me that there's so much insistence that he is from family, and yet, even with a supposedly cooperating lover, they have yet to identify a single ideological stance. Especially when so few understood the gamer memes or Kirk/Fuentes feud.
Worse than when a parent asks about some sex/kink thing. That poor soul.
Sounds like some very bad people made a (surely entirely innocent) little whoopsy doopsy. I foresee a particularly dramatic instance of the "ah, well, nevertheless" reaction ahead.
As I've now seen multiple statements walked back, and after firing everyone competent, the FBI is now this meme, except instead of it showing guilt (well...maybe instead of *just*), it's now that the investigators are all clowns with no ability to investigate anything.

This is probably a combination of anti-hype tendencies, being a contrarian ass, and pervasive cynicism, but I finally watched Alien Earth and am not feeling the buzz. It's fine. Good even. Just doesn't feel particularly special. The bottle episode in particular didn't live up to the hype (to me).
Gonna have students write sales pitches for products that have good value other than one major flaw, and one of the products is going to be university merch, but themed around our business writing class with a prominent seal of approval from me on every item. Including a visual to help them out.
A friend's tarot reading told me I'd be finding opponents in unexpected places, would constantly be seeking a fulfillment that never arrives, and that I'd build my life off of the quest, so I've decided to resign my teaching position and become a political news/debate content creator.
Finally decided to try a fidget device to help with ADHD and anxiousness, and it's nice! Of course I forgot it on the first workday since I acquired it, but these things happen 😣
LMAO, so, #TwitterOfTime, my partner is watching (on her own, probably for the best to avoid hurt feelings if she doesn't like it), and accidentally watched s3e1, because Prime Video is stupid. And she commented on the first few minutes with basically "okay women kick ass and stolen relics, got it."
I know it's unlikely, but since Trump's claimed we have too many holidays giving us worker-ants days off, if a resignation/25th WERE to occur so soon to Labor Day, could we get Gavin Newsom on stage with an old PA system and a microphone, giving a modified version of the Independence Day speech?
