I talk about different things to avoid being boring. I try to analyze the systems, strategies & mechanisms that facilitate current events. I am on the side of science, logic and reason. My political alignment is Pragmatist.

In the book "1984" a militantly xenophobic society of deliberately ignorant sheep has a ritual called "Two Minutes Hate" where they are encouraged to embrace hatred of everything that isn't themselves for two minutes. That's all it took. Two minutes per day. Imagine if it had been more than that.

If you think about it, Zeus in Clash of the Titans (1981) isn't really a deity so much as a bad dungeon master. The whole story is him creating encounters to level up his favorite character and flubbing dice rolls to make sure he wins while the rest of the players are forced to deal with his crap.

If you think about it, the idea of an AI powered RPG dates all the way back to the original Zork in 1977. It just took another fifty years for technology to make that idea actually possible.

A factor in the US being a hyper-violent shithole is that citizens are encouraged to reach for the death penalty as the knee jerk solution to any and every crime. Both the Left & Right do this; the only difference being what they consider to be a crime. The punishment does not change.

A popular bit of Right-wing propaganda is that colleges indoctrinate students into becoming Leftists. They've got it backwards. It's the students who are forcing the colleges to become Leftist, because colleges are businesses and thus they have to pander to whatever their customers want.

"Please like and subscribe, it genuinely helps the channel" is a placard. "Leave your comments in the section below, I love hearing from you" is also a placard, and it's only said to try and squeeze up the engagement metrics - they never read anything. YouTube is a factory. It uses templates.

An industry we should turn over to automation is recycling. Currently, it's mostly a scam. The revenue is too low so most of it gets dumped anyway or shipped to places poor enough to do the work. AI and robots could sort and process our waste fast enough & cheap enough to make it profitable again.

Aliens show up, say they'll give us the cure for cancer if we demonetize all of YouTube & TikTok and watch all of social media start saying that cancer is good and the cure should be banned.

A bit of realpolitik that the Left needs to learn: In a Democracy, any group is only as important as their demographic is large. Oh sorry, they're not pandering to the three people in the back of the packed stadium? Oh fucking well. Get over yourselves.

In the age of social media, an idea's popularity isn't determined by its level of truth. Rather, the perceived truth of an idea is determined by its popularity.

Every computer literate person learns this rule on day one: Machines do what you say, not what you want. I have yet to see an AI related incident that does not come down to someone not understanding this rule. It's that many of these people work in the tech industry that concerns me.

My mother had a personal library. Over a hundred books on the shelf, none of which she ever actually read, to impress others and make them believe that she was more learned than she really was. That may not sound impressive but understand that this was over 30 years before YouTube was invented.

America's founders abolished hereditary rule while leaving hereditary wealth intact, thus ultimately solving nothing; because in the end they are the same thing under different names.

A corporation only asks for a signature for one of two reasons: 1) To legally force you to give them money. 2) To weasel out of paying you money when they do something illegal.

#ukraine I took this screen capture from a recent Jake Bro video. Take a good long look and try to imagine Putin letting any of his regular citizens come with fifty feet of himself. That's the difference between a leader and a tyrant.
