I made a few improvements to VQV. Nothing special. I fixed what was broken and also added the total number of users and the number of unique blocked users to the home page. 43.61% of Bluesky users have already been blocked by someone. 🤦🏻♂️

The public block lists on Bluesky are one of the worst ideas ever introduced. Whoever created and keeps maintaining them is just fueling the exodus of users who are tired of the platform’s hostility. It’s driving people away, not keeping them safe.

“As users ‘dislike’ posts, the system will learn what content they want less of.” Not always. I might dislike how something was written, not the topic itself. I don’t want to live in a bubble where every post agrees with me—different views make social media worth it.

As users "dislike" posts, the system will learn what sort of content they want to see less of. This will help to inform more than just how content is ranked in feeds, but also reply rankings.

It’s been a while since I practiced my true craft: sipping bourbon, spinning old tunes, and dropping random messages into the void. Some chase badges. I just chase bourbon, vinyl, and nonsense posts.
Sometimes a 10-minute nap with your feet on the desk hits harder than 6 hours drooling on a pillow. Proof that quality > quantity… and maybe that we all secretly want to be CEOs of sleeping.
One of Bluesky’s best ideas was domain verification. Then they created the Bluesky Badge. Now new users get it overnight, while those who backed Bsky when it had only 10k users are ignored. Does the badge matter? No. The point: who’s valued—pioneers or newcomers?
