Adding this chart too. The average PlayStation active user purchased around 2 digital games and 0.56 physical games in FY2025. The peak for full game sales was 3.11 per average active user in FY20. Doesn't include F2P which has grown.

What’s frustrating is that Square Enix is probably one of the biggest third-party supporters of Nintendo consoles, but only individually. We’ve got ports of Dragon Quest, Final Fantasy, Octopath Traveller, Kingdom Hearts, etc. but barely any upgrade paths from Switch 1 to Switch 2. It’s so annoying.

Game executives continue to show their utter contempt for everything keeping their industry alive.
