Everyone should read this piece about what the Indian government is doing to its people in border states like Assam and now Bengal, throwing Muslims & other poor citizens into a Kafkaesque hell of paperwork, court cases, camps, expulsion to prove they belong in their home country.

“I have lived my entire life here,” the woman said. “I have not even seen any other country. How could they send me to Bangladesh?” scroll.in/article/1093... Afraid that police might arrest her again, she said, “It is better to die now. I don’t want to die in a foreign land.” By Rokibuz Zaman

Barely any attention paid here to the catastrophic elections in India, so I'm on Twitter more right now to commiserate with fellow Indians. But by god so many of those fellow Indians are wildly evil nazis--just a chorus of slurs & rape/death threats under any progressive post by popular users.

Also the only man to call out the Indian government for programming the dimestore Hindutva propaganda film Kashmir Files (2022) in the official selection at the International Film Festival of India (he was head of the jury). Got called out in turn by his own government “for insulting his hosts”.

I don’t know if there’s a more perfect illustration of the utter fucking nonsense that creative pollution by AI will produce than this choice to illustrate the power of Paramount’s new “localization” and “customization” technology by face-swapping Brad Pitt into the lead role of GET OUT

The New York f**** Times could have run the faintest of Google searches on the East African Gujarati diaspora before publishing its hit piece. But given its stunning ability to be on the wrong side of absolutely everything, they probably don’t consider him Gujarati cos he’s Muslim.
