Water resources science, engineering. & policy. Dad & partner. Professor & Dept Head, Oregon State Dept. of Biological & Ecological Engineering

New #WOTUS rule changes, impacting the Clean Water Act & protections for our nations' waterways. This is an area of expertise in my group - I would be thrilled to engage with media, policy-makers, nonprofits, etc. to discuss. DM or email to engage -

Well… the dilemma of publicly highlighting important work vs raising scrutiny from federal agencies is not something I was even anticipating to navigate. Supporting my colleagues now seemingly means keeping quiet about their amazing work. Oof.

Sometimes Department Head means lots of paperwork, policies, budgets, and so on. But sometimes it means you get to explore campus with a new friend so their parent can focus on class when their plans go sideways. Today was the later sort of sometimes.

Listening to some deeper cuts with the kiddos tonight - Tupac’s California Love includes “…now it’s ‘95…”. Feeling my years, but apparently all the words are still stored deep in my brain. 28 years ago!?! Not possible, Tupac.
