Ukrainian units are beginning to transfer out of Sumy, following Russia's regrouping that we reported on last week. In this thread we will review the current Ukrainian disposition in Sumy, including recent changes and which units might move out soon.

The Ukrainian 3rd Army Corps (3AK), based on the infamous 3rd Assault Brigade, revealed part of its subordinate Brigades last week. Their sector is the Izyum axis and, as was previously reported by Ukrainian press, they replaced Tactical Group "Kreminna" in June.

The new Ukrainian 159th Mechanized Brigade seems to have been (at least partially) committed to the Zaporizhzhia axis. It is unclear how it will fit within the 17th Army Corps, recently deployed to this area. It might only be in a supporting role for the moment. x.com/sirdo_/statu...

The Ukrainian 17th Army Corps (17AK) has likely deployed to the front, replacing the Operational Tactical Group (OTU) Zaporizhzhia. Most units assigned to the Corps are currently holding the line between Kam'yans'ke and Huliajpole. (Boundaries on the map are approximate)

What Ukrainian units are defending Kam'yans'ke against the recent Russian push? The overall sector belongs to the 128th Territorial Defence (TDF) Brigade, supported by various attachments. The 128th Mountain Assault Brigade holds its eastern flank. Yes, this can be confusing.

Ukraine’s military intelligence service GUR released an intercepted Russian telegram today. While we don't have more information about alleged transfers to Armenia, we have translated most mentioned Military Numbers to Military Unit Names

The Russian 155th Naval Infantry Brigade's command post was hit by a HIMARS strike in Korenevo (Kursk oblast) on July 2nd. Major General Mikhail Evgenyevich Gudkov, deputy commander (coastal and land forces) of the Russian Navy was confirmed Killed In Action in the strike.

Today a little boy was killed in Pravdyne, Kherson. According to our unit data (in cooperation with @kelley7622.tochnyi.info) it is highly likely that either the 80th Arctic Brigade, the 61st Naval Infantry Brigade, the Drone unit "Delta Team" or 337th VDV was responsible for this atrocity.

Considering we are aware of several ZSU brigades either in recovery or in inactive border areas, the decision to only commit few additional battalions even in late April leads to the possible conclusion that other brigades might be currently held in the rear, forming a reserve.

Additional units are being transferred from the Kurakhove axis toward the Pokrovsk-Toretsk line. Following the redeployment of the 8th Combined Arms Army, the 68th Army Corps has also been redeployed. bsky.app/profile/waru...

THREAD As reported in February, the 🇷🇺8th Guards Combined Arms Army was transferred from the Kurakhove axis to the “Toretsk direction”. It has since become clear that the focus of its 20th Motorized Rifle Division and 68th Tank Regiment lies between Niu-York & Novoleksandrivka.

We are discovering more and more of the structure of the new 68th Motorized Rifle Division, formed on basis of the 25th Motor Rifle Regiment New formations: 121st Motorized Rifle Regiment: MUN 50183 122nd Motorized Rifle Regiment: MUN 50333 52nd Reconnaissance Battalion: MUN ?

We have found the first insignia for a subunit of the newly formed 68th Motorized Rifle Division. It likely belongs to its 122nd Motorized Rifle Regiment. For this Regiment we also managed to figure out its unique Military Unit Number, namely 50333

The soldier who is being interviewed in the latest Butusov, Balgrabsky Vladislav Ivanovich, has been missing since around 20.03.2025. His unit, the 7th Motor Rifle Regiment, MUN 06414, is fighting around Hlyboke, northern Kharkiv.

(1) Aleksandr Sergeevich Kovalev went missing in action on January 26th 2025, near Udachne, Donetsk Oblast, under questionable circumstances. He was a thrice wounded veteran of the 15th Separate Guards Motor Rifle Brigade "Black Hussars" (15th MRB), MUN: 9 0 6 0 0.

Small ORBAT update: The 🇷🇺 36th Combined Arms Army now has a designated Assault Battalion, namely the 135th Assault Battalion, MUN 01605. Its unclear if this is part of a wider change towards creating specialized Assault Battalions. The unit is operating around Rozdolne.
