Drawing & Gamedev🎮 Developed Owlsgard and the Wool Ball series🦌 Now tries to do a 3D Platformer✨ Linktree: https://linktr.ee/WatchDaToast

...and then there's this hilarious 100% coincidental similarity between this shot in Owlsgard and a certain scene in Ronny's Climb. I mean, come on, what are the odds? 🦌

This is what the entirety of the first map in King's Quest 8 looks like. Reconstructing the location of the buildings and pathway was quite easy because you could clearly tell it by looking at the heightmap from the game. A bit of a random post, but this stuff just fascinates me.

I was playing King's Quest 8 the other day and found out that there are heightmap files for every world in the data folder. Imported them in Blender and did some rough reconstructing. It's so cool to now see how the environment actually looks without all the fog.

There's no aspect of gamedev that is frying my brain quite like level design. There usually comes a moment when everything clicks after countless iterations... but the way to get there is TOUGH

Since I'm working on my own 3D game, I've developed a hyperfixation on Tonic Trouble. Even as a kid it struck me as a downgraded Rayman 2... it's such an odd and unfinished feeling game by todays standards. Yet it has insane ambition shining through, which is kind of fascinating.

'Backrooms' director Kane Parsons isn't a fan of generative AI "If I could snap my fingers and make generative AI disappear forever, I probably would" "Creatively, I get no enjoyment from using those tools. It defeats the purpose entirely for me"

Everytime you encounter a sharp corner like this, you can bet that the game is loading in some new level segments juuuust outside your view. Super obvious stuff, but I enjoy the ✨r e t r o✨ aspect of it

Recently I've been playing all 3D platformers that I missed out on back in the day. Enjoying most of them, but it's jarring to see how some franchises went edgy in the early 2000s. Playing Jak 2 after completing The Precursor Legacy is SUCH a whiplash, really not feeling it lol

My current project is coming along nicely and I am very hyped about all the progress I made, however it's kinda hard to show anything yet because of how almost everything is still made up of unflattering placeholder assets. I'm kind of happy with this temple scene here though.

Somebody once recommended that I should use AI for animation to make "faster progress", arguing that it's "just a tool", like anything else in a painting program. Personally, I'd rather take years to finish my animations than rush the process and become a bad animator. #noai
