Phoebe Bridgers bringing out Boygenius for “Not Strong Enough” at Barclays was one of the best concert moments of the year from the sheer insanity of the crowds‘s reaction. So cool to see all 3 blossom to full on rock stars

IF I GO WILL THEY MISS ME: A beautiful and moving portrait about family, childhood, escaping the mistakes the generations before us made, and so much more. Poetic visual langue and some great performances from the entire cast. Seek out this gem if it's playing near you

Love going to a film to try and just escape shit for two hours only to have selfish assholes treat it like their living room and ruin the experience for you. Can never be replaced or replicated. People fucking suck.

THE WEIGHT: A lean old school gritty thriller with an allure that feels as if it could have come out in the 70s. Assured directorial debut from Padraic McKinley that has a more impressionistic atmosphere thanks to its cinematography + haunting score. Ethan Hawke is in his bag

OASIS: DON'T LOOK BACK IN ANGER hits with surprising amount of emotion. The sound from the concert footage is staggering. It perfectly captures the ethos and spirit of the band. One of my favorite theatrical experiences of the year. "It takes a lot of caring to not give a fuck"

THE SUN NEVER SETS: Humbling that a Joe Swanberg mumblecore feels like a throwback. Raw in the messy way that relationships can devolve thanks to insecurity, jealousy, and finding oneself. A great role for adult Dakota Fanning + Jake Johnson is charming as ever. Nails the ending.

HOPE: Some incredible action set pieces and a keen sense of humor that results in a fun ride. It does lose something during its final act, but a few choices during its rather elongated runtime deflate the previous highs. Deeper characterizations would have gone a long way

If you can find a theater near you playing DEAR YOU, please take the chance and go see it. Went in totally blind and was completely blindsided by the raw emotion that builds and builds until it's simply overwhelming. A generational tale that is as tragic as it is moving.

FINDING EMILY is exactly what a romcom should be. Great premise with two awesome leads driving it forward. You know the ultimate destination but the stops along the way are what make it pop. Made me want to go back for another trip to Manchester

THE DOG STARS: I don't get the critical pile on. Surprised by its somber meditation of grief and persistence. There's also one action sequence that is SICARIO-esque and another that is pretty out of nowhere batshit. It has its moments for sure

IT ENDS: an examination on our generation’s search for meaning on this endless road that we call life. We followed directions, did what we were told in order to make it in this world, but we're left drifting around aimlessly, struggling to find purpose.

COYOTE VS ACME is so much fun and nostalgic, Looney Tunes fun. Its satirical take on mega corporations is particularly ironic considering Warner Bros trying to bury it as a tax write-off. Thankfully that didn't happen.
