I've been enjoying watching the Commonwealth Games highlights. Glasgow seems to be delivering despite the short lead-in time for the games. I do feel it could have done with a marathon & cycle road racing though to give a sense of the wider city, rather than just specific sports venues.

The tax move is welcome. However, UK Gov should incentivise a mayoral model rather than settle for combined authorities. A mayor reaches beyond tribal politics & provides an accountable figurehead. Few initially supported a metro-mayor but they've proven valuable. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...
