IETF published an Internet-Draft titled Internet Protocol Version 8 (IPv8). The draft explicitly states that IPv4 is a proper subset of IPv8, that IPv8 uses a 64-bit address space, and that it is designed to be backward compatible without a flag day or forced migration www.ietf.org/archive/id/d...
