Plant‑rich diets are good for our health & our planet.🌍 At my surgery we discussed how the Government must support every part of the food chain - from farmers to shops to consumers - to shift towards more plant‑based foods.🌱 We need to make plant‑based food more accessible, desirable & affordable.

95% of women at high risk of developing breast cancer are missed by screening. That's why for the last 2 years I’ve pushed the Government to: - Lower the screening age for high‑risk groups - Improve access to screening methods - Speed up referral pathways Because early diagnosis saves lives.

Investigation after investigation. Whether it’s Farage’s £5 million Brexit reward or Tice being probed for failing to declare an interest. People deserve answers and transparency from their politicians - not sleaze and scandal.
Richard Tice investigated by parliamentary standards watchdog
Tice says the complaint related to a debate on Israeli influence and whether he should have referenced his register of interests.

I’ve written to the new Environment Secretary to demand action on banning bottom trawling in marine protected areas. The Government pledged in 2025 to ban it in 41 English MPAs - yet we are still waiting. We must urgently end this destructive practice to protect our most fragile marine ecosystems.
For those who don't believe climate change is real: open your eyes. Droughts, heatwaves, severe weather, flooding. The climate crisis is claiming lives right now. We must urgently speed up the transition to net zero. There’s still time to save our planet, but that time is running out fast.🌍

The drought declarations follow an exceptionally hot and dry period, which has hit rivers, crops and nature.

Meta glasses are being used to secretly film people, creating humiliating & degrading videos that are then posted online without their consent. Instagram says they’ll crack down on content filmed this way. I’ll believe it when I see it. I'm campaigning to make videos like these a criminal offence.
Instagram will now ban creeps in Meta glasses
Content shot on Meta glasses from pickup artists and pranksters can now get you banned.

There have been 22 failed attempts to fix social care since 1997. This crisis is failing families & piling pressure on the NHS. We @libdems.org.uk have long called for cross‑party talks to help fix this, so I'm glad Burnham has taken this step. Any plan must put family carers at its heart.
Good meeting. Lots of work ahead.
Reform are increasingly politicising LGBT+ rights. From banning the Pride flag to making divisive comments, they’re stirring up hate & division that is endangering LGBT+ people. We cannot let them roll back hard‑won progress. We must keep fighting for LGBT+ rights. Read more of my thoughts below👇

Every year, around 2.6 million scientific procedures involving animals take place in Britain. Yet over 92% of drugs that show promise in animal tests fail in human clinical trials. Good to meet with Animal Free Research UK to discuss accelerating the move to more ethical, human-relevant research.

It's great news that Bath's new police station is set to open next month! Bringing neighbourhood & response teams under one roof will strengthen collaboration & information sharing, helping officers respond to issues faster.👮 I'm proud to have fought for a permanent police station in Bath.

1 in 20 adults, young people & children in the UK are now living with an eating disorder. Most will know someone affected, whether they realise it or not. Without targeted action, this number will only continue to rise. The Mental Health Strategy must include a specific focus on eating disorders.

Fantastic to see the RUH deliver its new high-powered precision radiotherapy treatment for prostate cancer. This shorter treatment means fewer hospital visits, freeing up appointments & reducing waiting times. Wonderful news for patients. I'm proud they're leading the way in battling cancer.

My regular check-in with RUH MD John Palmer. Pleasing to hear about their performance as one of the top ten most improved hospitals in England, but still much more work to do. Challenging times continue but the promise of investment to come gives cause for optimism.
Always love to visit Bath’s iconic Green Park Station – home to brilliant indie shops, bars, and markets. And such great news that the vaults so badly damaged by the fire in 2023 are now fully renovated and looking for new tenants! Could this be a cool new home for your business?
23 million UK adults don’t have a will, & £67 million went unclaimed last year because people died intestate. Yet the law still refuses to recognise digital wills. It’s outdated and shuts millions out. I'm backing calls to for secure, authenticated electronic wills to finally be made legal.📝

Burnham’s 20% business‑rates cut for pubs, clubs and live‑music venues isn’t enough. High street and hospitality businesses are being crushed by spiralling costs, including the jobs tax. He should back our @libdems.org.uk plan to Save Our High Streets and reform the broken business‑rates system.

It’s a relief to see the bus cap back at £2 - we @libdems.org.uk called out the hike from day one.🚌 But millions are still being left behind by route cuts, unreliable buses & areas lacking services, especially in rural communities. Burnham must deliver affordable, reliable transport for everyone.

The country needs more than just headline‑grabbing promises. We need to see how Burnham will fund them. He must instruct his Chancellor to trigger the Budget process, so that a proper Budget can be put to the country as soon as possible. We need to see action from this new Government.

If Burnham approves drilling in the Rosebank & Jackdaw oil and gas fields, it will be a disgraceful betrayal of our climate commitments. We don't need more fossil fuels - we need bold investment in renewables, green jobs & energy security. The future isn't in oil. It's in renewables.

Burnham’s right: the cost‑of‑living crisis is hitting people & families hard. There’s a simple way to start fixing it - repair our broken relationship with Europe. Burnham should scrap Labour’s Brexit red lines, urgently negotiate a new customs union & re-join the single market.
As Burnham enters Number 10, he will face many challenges. One of the biggest: the social care crisis. Elderly people left bedbound without support & families losing everything to pay care fees. It has to stop. If Burnham is serious about fixing this crisis, we @libdems.org.uk will work with him.
Today I had my regular catch-up with Lucy Baker from BSW, Somerset and Dorset ICB to discuss the government’s focus on neighbourhood health. I continue to support efforts to bring multiple health and social services under one roof and into communities - improving vital access for Bath residents.
