Arguments for young 'uns to use when grandad uses "1976" as the killer argument to say climate change is a hoax. 1. If you remember 1976 then you'll remember the Big Freeze of 1963. 2. How many super hot summers have there been since 76? 3. How many winters like 1963?

youtube.com/watch?v=sKwy... A reminder of the human side of migration. Not that Trump, Vance, Farage, Lowe and the rest see that of course

Very frustrating listening to @mrjamesob.bsky.social and @shelaghfogarty.bsky.social today. The assertion made by callers that defence is the most important thing going unchallenged was annoying. Keeping citizens safe is most important but that is not just a military thing. Pandemics are risks too.
A Very British Coup is underway, albeit the string pullers are lurking in the White House backed by Elon Musk's money. Hatred of Starmer is out of proportion, and if there is chaos now imagine if Burnham does NOT win Makerfield. Chaos aimed at putting Farage into Downing Street.
I wonder how many Israeli flags will be on show at today's rally against antisemitism.
Can we note how, as one, world leaders condemned the acts of the lunatic at the Washington dinner last night and welcomed the fact Trump was unharmed. And can we imagine Trump's response if it had been Carney, Starmer, Macron etc being attacked.
Two major considerations behind the formation of NATO in 1949 that no longer apply. One is that the US regarded it as an anti communist alliance more than a defence alliance. The second was that Germany could not rearm. Soviet communism is no more and now we want Germany to arm itself.
www.theguardian.com/global-devel... Considering who owns AI you might be excused for wondering whether this sort of inaccuracy is deliberate
A photo of Iran’s bombed schoolgirl graveyard went around the world. Was it real, or AI?
Numerous faked images and a string of startlingly inaccurate responses from Gemini and Grok are part of a tidal wave of AI slop engulfing coverage of the Iran war

Zia Yusuf will promise a ban on churches being turned into mosques. Layla Cunningham will ban the burqa if she becomes London's mayor. Good to see Reform focusing on the most pressing issues the country faces.
Robert Jenrick says a Reform government will be fiscally responsible but Yusuf says Reform will splurge huge amounts on deporting law abiding citizens. The fault lines within Reform are widening.
Some things about the institution of monarchy that are overlooked, and were on James O'Brien's show this morning The first is that kingship started out as realpolitik. Rather than risk civil war every time a leader died or became incapable the powerful agreed one family would provide the kings.
When I hear an Opposition leader talking of preparing for government I always recall David Steele back in the 1980s. Not an accurate prediction then, hopefully Farage is being just as hubristic.
