Coming across an unfamiliar word and running to look it up is a fun process. Plus it provides an opportunity to spend a couple weeks casually slipping it into every other conversation.

I've been getting direct correspondence from readers telling me I should not use unfamiliar-to-them words since my first novel came out in 2018. They usually act like they're doing me a favour by letting me know I've screwed up (by forcing a reader to the dictionary) so I can do better next time.

AMERICAN HISTORY X was not the antiracist film it sought to be. Despite that, at least there was a scene where the main character regrets his tattoos.
