32M. Love reading (SF/mystery/horror), movies, games of all stripes. Always open to chatting.

Feeling that urge again to listen to Giant Bomb podcasts from like 2008-2011. It’s so tempting to just vibe in that era of games to me, I’m gonna be that dude repoing 360 games for ever. It’s just my time!

I was watching Blizzcon out of idle curiosity and it’s just shocking how they have all that money and just nothing to show. 2030? 2029? Did you start these games yesterday?

Biggest question as a Twilight Princess FREAK where is it guys? It’s not rereleased anywhere except the WiiU, the equivalent of sending it to a posting in Siberia.

Why is the new Zelda so WET it looks like that oily Glen Powell. What a whiff. It’s something that if they embraced the idea of it being a toy or diorama it could be really neat! Instead it’s just sloppy?

My parents have a bird feeder and a hummingbird feeder and I am SO JEALOUS. Saw a hummingbird and cardinals (male and female), Carolina chickadee, a GIANT woodpecker and a mourning dove on the shed watching! I need a YARD so bad.

ONSLAUGHT: Wingard takes on Carpenter with strobing synths and misty nights. A bit weird tonally between the evil base and the domestic setup but just PURE MEAN when it gets going. Clearly inspired by the vile vibes of Call of Duty (the loadouts on the monsters) and the War on Terror. 3/5.

I think one of my favorite things to do on Fridays is go home from work a slightly longer way when it’s Fall and Winter. Just music going, thinking, new stuff to see. Not now, it’s still 90+. But I do love it then.

I understand that the Middle-Earth Shadow games are a blight on Tolkien’s legacy. But you must admit the line reads of the Elf ghost you chill with are amazing. SUFFER ME NOW

There’s so many games coming out sheeeeesh. Control 2, Witcher R3master, Castlevania roguelike, Star Wars racer, Dark Arisen 2, Valheim 1.0. Where’s the TIME?

Getting ready for this cannonball run Japan trip in October, 7 days there with a concert/festival over 2. But I REALLY wanna hit up the Square Enix store and the FFXIV store in particular so I gotta carve some time.

Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2. Kinda janky? Kinda budget? Fun with friends. I dunno. There’s a spot in my heart for games where you just shoot waves of guys and it glitches sometimes and you can have a turret to mow down enemies. Scratches the EDF itch for me. Enjoyable!

There’s someone smarter than me who can make something of the fact that the last 3 big Nintendo titles (Odyssey, DK, and now Splatoon Raiders) have a very similar layout with small, isolated worlds in voids with a ton of little collectibles scattered around. I’m not sure if it’s cheaper or what.

I keep seeing phrases like “ZORK RUN” and “TOTAL ZORK” and getting excited before I realize it’s for the Duskbloods character and NOT the classic text adventure.

Beat BIG WALK with the fellas. Fun game, at the start. I think it gets long in the tooth by the end, not a lot of tricks it has to show you. It’s unfortunate that the main walking feels so loose and rough, you’re constantly bonding and sliding, you lose voices if you turn your head too far.

Big Walk has such a dogwater final set of puzzles it dropped the game’s rating for me. I enjoy a lot of it but I think the way-too-small mic range ruins the idea of walking with your pals when I turn my head and am INAUDIBLE. Lovely final sequence though.

Wow, 25 years of Arcanum! What a great RPG. My weakness is that steampunk magic world, and Arcanum is perfect for it. It’s so much fun with a pistol and magic, roaming around. The map is perfect too. This 1600s style, the hatching, just instantly evocative!

The map for the game Arcanum. Presented as if it’s from the 1600s.

A big, two-page ad from 2000 for Crimson Skies, an arcade flight-sim for PC platforms by Zipper Interactive. It was based on the 1998 tabletop boardgame (with light RPG elements!) of the same name taking place in an alt 1930's where air power dominated the skies over a fragmented United States.

In the pulp adventure world of Crimson Skies' 1930s, highways are dusty memories as air power ushers in a high flying vision of a United States broken up into separate nations, each fielding their own air force with independent operators (and pirates) in between. This side of the ad comes with a few screenshots promising "11 tricked out planes in 24 thrilling missions". It was a lot of fun!

The tabletop version the game was based off of (by FASA Corporation) simulated air combat but it also had a bit of RPG flavor. Pilots (the players) could earn experience to improve different skills with kills! This side of the ad shows a red plane pursuing a black one down from the skies where a zeppelin is on fire above a canyon of office buildings (must be a fight over the skies of Manhattan in the nation of the Empire State!).
