It was already cool that Spain’s mens and women teams pulled the international soccer equivalent of UConn basketball in 2004 and 2014. But to have emotionally intelligent players who give their counterparts their flowers too? Damn.

Don’t put me to the sword here, but I was not particularly moved by The Odyssey. It was big, it was loud, it was…fine. There were certainly parts I liked, but I found the script lacking in places. All the actresses in Hollywood and Zendaya was Nolan’s choice? She lacked gravitas for the role IMO.
Can’t recall who, but someone once said that most people of influence in right-wing circles don’t have a coherent ideology, they have adult Oppositional Defiance Disorder. Not seeing a lot of evidence to the contrary.

I’m sorry but this is kind of penalty is horseshit. At the absolute edge of the box, Yamal just throws his body towards Dign. No real attempt to play the ball by Lamal and yet he gets the PK call. This is the sort of wildly disproportionate injustice that soccer produces and I hate it.
At this point my rooting preferences for the World Cup basically align with my views of their elected heads of state 🇫🇷 France: Yesssss 🇪🇸 Spain: OK! 🏴 England: Ehhh, I’d rather we didn’t 🇦🇷 Argentina: oh hell naw

The fact that he also had that certain brand of charming southern geniality for his colleagues makes it worse, actually.
