In case you were wondering why traffic safety issues consistently rank so high on Seattle public safety surveys...
the triumvirate (2026)
This is such great news! Can we have a knitting group at the cafe?
Charlie’s Queer Books Is Opening a Second Location - The Stranger
This is the best books news I’ve heard since Roxane Gay and Debbie Millman bought The Rumpus: Charlie’s Queer Books is opening a new location in Seattle’s original gayborhood, Capitol Hill. Next door ...

The recent remake of Kiss of the Spider Woman is on Kanopy, and I'm so excited to see it again and be emotionally devastated.
A review of Kiss of the Spider Woman (2025)
Baby I was locked. in. Really impressed that I could be so taken with a musical with such aggressively okay music. Tonatiuh a star, my god. Art is so important, not just for escape, but for showing us...

The last time Richard Shindell played Seattle I had to miss it. Current mood: listening to Cry Cry Cry and regretting that fact!
I'm taking a week off next month to knit and watch spooky movies, and it looks like I could just spend that whole time on Criterion Channel.
✨Announcing our OCTOBER 2026 Criterion Channel lineup! ✨ www.criterion.com/current/post... Our Halloween programming includes a tour of cinema’s scariest road movies, an anthology of TV-movie nightmares, and collections built around our fears of sinister intruders and mysterious possessive forces.
Do we think if I had a man as my avatar people I don't know would stop explaining things to me.
Well this was a terrible time for Libby to decide I needed to verify my SPL card. Good thing I have like four other cards!
I'm struggling to come to terms with the fact that I can't make it to this, but you should go. A pandemic movie with a Grace Chang soundtrack! You all know her because 我要你的爱 was in Crazy Rich Asians.

The @grandillusioncinema.org & @siffnews.bsky.social present a brand new 35mm print of Tsai Ming-Liang’s THE HOLE. September 18 & 20 at the SIFF Film Center. “Impressive a quarter century ago, it seems even more so today.” J. Hoberman, The New York Times grandillusioncinema.org/film/the-hol...
Sorry I have to call in sick today: my hold on the newest Freya Marske just came in.
Extremely on brand for me to spend most of my review of Fucking Åmål defending the honor of wheelchair basketball.
I don't love that this year's SEA-Nordic film festival is in the lecture hall of the museum, because it's wildly uncomfortable, but I do love that the movies start at 6, since it takes ten years to get home from Ballard.
Love this presentation that starts out with "everyone is using AI, you have to use it" and then goes into all the ways in which it fucks things up.
They give out patches at the Fangoria screenings! Here's the one for The Faculty.
Apparently someone at Fangoria heard me, and The Faculty is next month's selection for their Staff Picks series at Regal (the thirteenth of every month.) Guaranteed to jack you up!
Surprised to see today that Regal is selling books at concessions? Movie tie-in editions obviously but still.
Did not expect to see someone downtown hanging out fliers for Run Budz, but I guess that's that National Phone Carrier money for you.
Ooh we are getting such good rain this morning! Much needed: my city was filthy (derogatory)
One thing they left out of Master & Commander is how much time Stephen spends naked. Like this weekend where he convinced a sailor to row him to an island, & as soon as he got in the boat he took off all his clothes.
I have plans every night this week (& possibly next week too) so obviously the only solution is to take advantage of the fact that this week's Reign match was at 5, & #firstvoyage RIGHT NOW
We found a fairy door yesterday! (It's at the base of that super gnarled tree by Thomas Street Park.)
Set the alarm to root for France tomorrow! Though honestly, here in my dotage I'll probably be up anyway.
Really solid spookyszn range in this week's letterboxd #lastfourwatched (plus one that certainly has horror elements.)
I think I might get my aunt this for Christmas. This and Woodworking. (I always get her books: she's a big reader too, and she sells them back to Auntie's for store credit.)
This was Intemperance, & I finished the audiobook today and I loved it.
I just signed my offer letter, so I can officially say I will not be returning to the Office of the City Clerk 🎉 Highly recommend taking an out of class position & then just staying as a way to avoid a farewell event. A++ would OOC again (but uh not soon; I like it here!)
Just a typical morning over here (I have a bee in my bonnet over a single line in a review of Practical Magic 2.)
Incredible rollercoaster of seeing that Jane Schoenbrun is doing a reading here this fall ... only to realize I can't go because I will be out of town for (this is real) a sausage festival.
