a theater creator i sometimes watch just posted about a show’s production being delayed and they mentioned the perspective of “but what does this make possible?” in light of the let down and… whew. that’s what i needed to hear. i’m Open right now and it’s not bad. it’s hard, but it’s not bad.

i hadn’t been able to listen to him yet, but while i was driving home this evening, music shuffling, revelate came on and i let it play. windows open, rural highway, the start of golden hour. it was so, so healing. i just can’t believe he’s gone.

i still don’t have a damn clue what i am Doing. but, i’m currently on a bench swing in a park on the tennessee river, after a long day full of music and some of the loveliest people i’ve ever had the pleasure of knowing and… i don’t know. i’m doing that, right now. and it’s good.

swapping bar hopping for coffee shop hopping when i’m in new-to-me cities for shows has been one of the most lovely things in sobriety. everything is more gentle. it’s good.

the way more and more job app websites look like old internet download screens where you couldn't quite tell which "download" button was the right one and which one would wreck your computer with a virus is making it really fucking hard to care about my ongoing job search holy shiiiit it all sucks

one of the best things about sobriety that i didn’t really know about in the beginning is that i just… rarely get sick anymore. i just ran myself fucking RAGGED the last two weeks and i feel fine. i’ve had two colds since i quit drinking in 2023. two!!! my body is just like. baseline fine, always.

the week of my dreams is somehow continuing on, and i’m just flabbergasted by it all. blown away. i’m the luckiest girl in the world. there’ll be a blog post soon, probably tomorrow or thursday. in the meantime, i’ll be over there happy crying.

as per usual, i’m that much more delighted when E joins me at a show not only because she’s one of my dearest, but because her threads always capture the evening so well. this was a run for the books, and a perfect way to cap things off🧡

And that's a wrap. Now I know why Mer has been smitten the last couple of years with these guys. Thank you again, m'dear, for the introduction. 😚 #TheDirtyKnobs #CarnegieofHomesteadMusicHall #WiseCountyCafe 4/

At the end of the show, the band is just wrapping up the last song, Lance, Chris, and Steve are still playing the final notes, but Mike stands right in front of the drum kit arms raised, holding his guitar in triumph high over his head, the front row raising its arms and applauding wildly

the smoke’s finally cleared enough in southwestern michigan that i can actually smell the cows at the barn across the street from my airbnb. never been so relieved to smell literal shit.

one more show to go in this dream of a run. i’m grateful in ways i can’t make words of - i hope i can tomorrow when i get to talk to the guys. hit the road and follow the bands you love, y’all. it’ll heal your damn soul.
