Petition: Stop all developments on peatlands across Wales!

Peatlands in Wales provide important carbon storage, they store 30% of our land-based carbon. They are essential for our survival: healthy peatlands sequester more carbon than all the world's forests combined. They also provide crucial habitat for plants, animals, birds and insects, and help prevent flooding in the face of increasingly erratic weather. Peatland cannot be moved or recreated; once fragmented or destroyed it's lost.

Very atmospheric (c.f. rainy) day out in the Rhondda doing water vole surveys for Lost Peatlands sites at Mynyndd Ton and then Cwmparc. Great to have @inccymru.bsky.social with us as well for the day. Been a while since I’ve been in the Cwm and it’s fantastic, despite the razor sharp tussock sedge

Aren't Water Voles wonderful. This Water Vole was filmed going about its business on the River Thaw in South Wales. They were reintroduced to the river last year, after a 20 year absence. Surveys this year suggests that the population is doing well and the Water Vole are exploring new habitats.
