For movies, I finally watched the animated Lady Death (2004), based on the comic book. It isn't bad, but it feels like parts were cut out and like it turned down the sex and violence compared to the source material. It's fun, however, now I see why it took me so long to get to.

I beat 007 First Light tonight. Good game overall, especially with the cinematic presentation and references to one of my favorite franchises, but there are portions where I feel like the combat might let some people down.
I watched College Kickboxers (1991), which is a really dumb yet enjoyable martial arts film with a cool mentor character and a weird and drawn-out moral dilemma, but it all works out in the end. The love story was a little awkward as well, though the action tries to make up for it.

Wife made me watch the footie game today, which I feel violates our marriage contract.
I beat Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, but at the cost of some sanity. What an experience; an incredibly creative, convoluted, and extremely frustrating experience that I hope to never suffer through again. Still, I might be stronger for having completed it.

The wife and I continued our MCU tour with one of the best offerings, Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014), which still holds up and offers some impressive action, as well as solid character development, with a few new faces, while reaching back to the first movie in an enjoyable way.
Nothing like 10 hours without power to make you feel grateful for the little things.

Recently watched The Day of the Dolphin (1973). Oh, haven’t heard of it? What if we train a dolphin to understand English and plant a bomb on the President’s boat? Cool, but that's only ten minutes of the movie, and the rest is between boring and wondering if the characters are horny for mammals.
Recently I finished Carrie, Stephen King’s debut novel. I’d seen the film ages ago and wanted to check the book out to get a feel for King’s first big work and see how different the source material might be, but this one seems quite faithful (from what I remember).

This week, for movies, I finally got my wife to watch one of my favorites, Brick (2006). It may be my most-loved film in the genre, just so stripped down, refreshing, with a cool story and actors I genuinely appreciate. It's high school noir with a ton of excellent directorial choices.

Wolverine and Gitaroo Man are my heroes. Jack Quaid as a talking cube is really throwing me off here.
I finished reading The Chronicles of Narnia by C.S. Lewis this month. This is the first time I've gone through all seven books since I was much younger, and reading them as an adult was a very different experience.
A movie that was interesting, but I'm not certain I'll need to watch again, was Send Help (2026). A cool concept that left me wanting both the main characters to die. I applaud them for trying something different, and the acting is solid, but this one often feels stranded.
