Nuance takes more effort (not much) but is so necessary. Climate change is the most complicated and pressing issue of our times and we cannot do ourselves a disservice by lacking nuance.
Alaina Wood@thegarbagequeen.bsky.social · 2y agoThe climate movement needs to learn nuance because saying “electric vehicles are a short term solution that must be paired with major investments in public transit and increased density” gets a whole lot more people to become activists than by just saying “all private vehicles need to be banned”.

Science cafe programs are so cool. Last night, we learned about our state crime lab firearm forensics team and all the high-tech science they use in their work. This is a 3D scan of two casings showing how they match up markings.
This huge. I live just down the road from Carrboro and I applaud their team for moving forward with this. We must hold polluters accountable. "Duke Energy is the third largest source of carbon dioxide in the country" This is not some small company that just services Carrboro.

Keurig coffee will almost always be just one step above instant coffee. There are infinantly better ways to brew coffee than that which has plagued our planet with single use plastic pods. Yes, i know they have reusable pods, but the product still doesn't taste good.

Students today will never know a snow day like waking up and turning on the TV to see which school were closed. Now it's turned into a remote learning day. Just let the kids go outside and play in the snow!
