Here's a thread with an explanation behind Winesky's permissions, including details about how only your client is in control of the access token.
Hi @winesky.app 👋 Could you clarify which features require the site.standard.* and app.bsky.authDeleteContent scopes? These scopes don’t look least-privileged to me, especially delete-content access. Curious about the rationale. Thx!
Bourgogne Aligoté Aux Boutières by Domaine Guilbert-Gillet (2023) - 5 ⭐ White Wine from Burgundy via @winesky.app 🍷 #winesky #frenchwine #burgundy #aligote
Enjoying some local real ale - Pool Street Pale by Peerless Brewing via @winesky.app 🍺 #beersky #realale #beer #wirral
At an Italian restaurant and I’m not very experienced with Italian wines or pairings so I took a photo of the wine list and asked @winesky.app sommelier for a recommendation. I love this app and how easy it makes it for us amateurs
Winesky now supports web push notifications for analysis and sommelier requests! On iOS, you'll first need to add it to your home screen — Apple makes that non-obvious. Instructions for both iOS and Android here: progressier.com/pwa-capabili... Enjoy!

A quick thread on #winesky internals.
Let's try and keep it not too technical... I built it as a replacement for Vivino when it started going to crap. It requires an ATmosphere account, eg. Bluesky, and your scans live on the PDS (the server that hosts your posts). If the application were to go away tomorrow, you keep your data! 1/
🌞🌙 Winesky now has a light theme! By default it follows your system settings (light / dark), so those of you used to the original dark theme may see a UI change when you first log in. You can also head into settings and pick whichever you prefer, if you'd rather stick to just one.
Winesky's UI now supports Italian! It'll default to Italian if that's your system language, or you can switch it in settings. Thanks to @lhatan.bsky.social for a quick language check (all remaining mistakes are ours, though).
New feature: recommendations from your cellar 🍷🍺 The AI sommelier can now draw on your scanned drinks and favorites when making recommendations — saving you from having to upload images or entering details manually. Have a long history? You can search and filter both lists from the top. 🔍 Cheers!
You can now mark drinks as favorites in Winesky ❤️ Open any item in your collection and tap the heart at the top. It'll show up in its own list you can browse separately — great for wines you've loved, ones you want to revisit, or building a cellar.
New in Winesky: you can now share sommelier recommendations with friends. Picking wine for dinner, settling a debate, or just showing off a great find — send the link, skip the screenshots. winesky.app/ViewRecommen...

📤 Share an analysis without publishing a review! Scanned a drink you want to share? Tap the ✦ analysis icon on it, then hit share at the top. You'll get a public link with everything Winesky found online — no personal details attached. Cheers! 🍷 winesky.app/ViewAnalysis...
Winesky's new save-from-feed feature is now live! 🍷 Heads up: you'll need to re-authenticate, since this new data requires new permission scopes. Reply to any post with "@winesky.app add" and we'll try to identify the wine from the post's text and save it for you.
Major Winesky UI update just landed — let us know what you think! (And if you find any issues...)
@atstore.fyi There seems to be a bug — while we can go to Winesky's Edit screen, the Save button remains disabled no matter what we change.

We hate to be “that account”, but some revenges need a good two solid hours of breathing before you serve them — even if that means a slightly higher temperature.
revenge is a dish best served cellar-temperature
Spitballing about design… You reply to a wine post with “@winesky.app add”, and it adds it to your shopping list. It’s a public interaction, so they can live as a record on the PDS. It can even work if you haven’t signed up yet, because it’s attached to your ATmosphere account.
Funny — literally just saw a bottle of the 2020, but can’t get it right now. @winesky.app needs a shopping list…
We are deploying some #Winesky performance improvements and bugfixes tonight. Let us know if you run into any issue!
We just pushed an update that helps further harden authentication. You may need to sign in again the next time you open the application. We'll try to minimize such changes in the future, but will always give you a heads-up as well.
If your into your beer this is a must and it's in the Atmosphere so just log in with Bluesky credentials! #Atmosphere #atproto 🍻
It’s a progressive web app, so you can run it directly and install it to your Home Screen from winesky.app And thanks for the question! We could be explaining that better!
Got a report from an Android user that they couldn't get Winesky to focus while attempting to scan. There seem to be several upstream @expo.dev issues related to this. We are exploring workarounds. If it happens: you can take photos using your regular camera, then pick them from the gallery.
Winesky now supports hyperlinks! You can either paste a link, or use the markdown syntax (text in brackets, link in parentheses besides it). It's not doing preview embeds, but we might add that soon.
Grande Réserve Cairanne Rouge by Camille Cayran (2023) - 3 ⭐ Black cherry, pepper... not much else so far. Less interesting than their Gigondas. Tasty and that's it. Red Wine from Rhône Valley via @winesky.app 🍷 #winesky #frenchwine #rhonevalley #syrah #carignan #grenache #mourvedre
We've just solved an authentication regression from our last update. If you've seen an "OAuth invalid_scope" error, we've deployed a fix and you should be able to log in now. Sorry about that!
