Andrew was the strongest hurricane to strike the U.S. since Hurricane Camille in 1969. It remains one of the costliest tropical systems in U.S. history. It was the first of 3 hurricanes to destroy a WSR-57 or WSR-88 radar, along with Hurricane Maria (2017) and Hurricane Laura (2020).
