I can't help but wonder if the incidents of AI ostensibly hacking its way out of sandbox environments is faked or coached so as to make the news and convince people that these things are more impressive than they really are.

Nobody in Denmark is happy about Trump's latest whining about Greenland, but Washington's rhetoric rings a good deal more hollow this time than it did when we deployed regular forces to Greenland to resist a potential invasion last time (they are still there, and now well entrenched.)

No, advertisers, there is actually not that much of an overlap between the guy who keeps buying 40k audiobooks and the guy who will consider buying Harry Potter audiobooks. 😑

1/ With Trump once more looking to Greenland to manipulate the markets for the benefit of his cronies plays on prediction markets and to distract from his being Epstein's closest associate, I'm happy that the Danish troops sent months ago have remained there to entrench and prepare the whole time.

For the moment the election results are looking like the centrist government in Denmark will continue in some form with added supporters. Not my first choice (I'd prefer a move to the left) but Denmark in a safe set of hands until Trump is out is more important than my preference.

There's my vote cast in the Danish parliamentary elections today, best of luck to SF, and to the prime minister! I also extend my thanks to the US media for ignoring the Danish election and thereby keeping it from the mind of the demented ogre currently squatting in the ruins of the white house.

I was going to translate this from the Danish news article earlier but Chris has done the job already. Our government is admirably committed to Denmark not going through another 9th of April (1940) - Greenland may ultimately be forcibly occupied, but the US military would have to bleed for it first.

1/ Denmark was reportedly preparing for full-scale war with the US over Greenland in January, with military support from France, Germany, and Nordic nations. Elite troops and F-35 jets with live ammunition were sent, and runways were to be blown up to prevent an invasion. ⬇️

So to sum up the opinions of the Danish government: The PM and FM have said that the Iranian government a repressive state and an enemy, but that Denmark was not notified of nor took part in the US/Israeli attack on Iran. DK govt supports de-escalation.

The Danish government has called for legislative elections on the 24th of March, and I think this is a good decision with the US military so heavily committed to their buildup near Iran. Preparations have already been made for US sabre-rattling during the election campaign.

Danish PM's reaction to Trump's hospital ship post: "Am happy to live in a country where there is free and equal access to healthcare for everyone: Where it is not insurance and wealth which decides if you get proper treatment. Same approach as they have in Greenland. Good Sunday to everyone. 😊"

Oh good, Trump is helpfully sending an AI-generated ship to take care of all of those Greenlanders who are in critical condition because of how greatly they valued Trump's illegal tariffs. 🙄

Until yesterday all I knew of the Norwegian royal family was that they were closely related to the Danish royal family and that there was a Norwegian princess who was bit weird. Reading the news the past couple of days I am curious - What on Earth happened?

A fresh poll on Danish attitudes towards the USA has been published today, of those polled 17% view the US as an ally, 20% don't know, 3% didn't answer, and 60% view it as an adversary. Notably this new and hostile perception is not concentrated in any specific groups but is general. #greenland

A pie chart showing a blue, red, yellow and green section. Translated the title label reads in Danish "As things are today, would you describe the USA as an ally or an adversary?" On the pie chart the 17% who answered 'allied' is coloured in red, the 60% who answered 'adversary' are coloured in blue, the 20% who wrote 'do not know' are coloured in yellow and the 3% who replied 'Do not wish to answer' are coloured in green. Below the pie chart is the information about the ways in which the poll was conducted: "1053 completed interviews with representatively selected Danes aged 18 or above. The poll was carried out by Epinion as a web based panel investigation in the period 21. January - 28 January 2026.
