It wasn't meant to be yesterday for Tigst Assefa at the BMW BERLIN-MARATHON. She is set to undergo surgery today after suffering a tendon injury during the closing stages of yesterday's race, and, according to her manager, will face an extended lay-off to recover. We wish her a speedy recovery. 💪

Despite her disappointment, Tigst Assefa's performance yesterday was nothing short of remarkable. Her 2:11:04 eclipses her previous best in Berlin and makes that 2023 win the 3rd-fastest women's marathon finish of all time.

At the double. Guye Adola wins his second BWM BERLIN-MARATHON with a commanding victory in the German capital. He crossed the line in 2:02:50, almost a minute quicker than his PB.

ELITE WOMEN | Tigst Assefa turned up to the press conference with a special world record jacket and she's living up to the billing. She's tracking for sub-2:10 at the 15KM stage.
ELITE WHEELCHAIR MEN | Organisers will be getting the tape ready for Marcel Hug who is now 4:05 ahead at 30KM. Absolute dominance from the Swiss.
ELITE WOMEN | Assefa has gone through 10KM at 30:48 which is bang on world record pace.
ELITE MEN | Race favourite Gabriel Geay is part of the lead group who have gone through 10KM IN 28:58.
