I have a phone number from a different state. I leave messages all time using it. If this were true, why do my reps respond to me? I get not calling other reps than your own, but I don’t see how some software is doing this.

Celeste Pewter@celestepewter.bsky.social · 2w ago

DO NOT DO THIS. Congressional software literally checks if you're in the district or not. If you're not in the district/state, you're clogging up lines. If you want to help, as someone you know who lives in those states to call.

Oh ffs. Trump wants Bolsonaro's son Flavio to be the next president of Brazil, so he sent officials down to "monitor" the election. Brazil suspected fuckery, said no, and wouldn't let them in. Now Trump is mad. Flavio's been making Trumpian claims about stolen elections. www.rawstory.com/brazil/

I’ve decided not to fight my siblings over anything and luckily I’m (currently) in a position to do that. I also learned that my parents are not splitting things equally and I’m glad I know that now. If you have kids, don’t do this to them. Have the difficult conversations.

Disputes between heirs can cost six to seven figures — and “the only people who win are the lawyers.” How do you pass on your estate and home to multiple heirs with minimal infighting?

I have an antenna. I don’t pay and I get the main broadcast news stations plus any number of news shows in Spanish and Vietnamese and other languages I don’t speak, but maybe you do. Plus three public TV networks, and a bunch of other stations. Not perfect, but it generally works.

You know what I miss I miss the days that I could just turn on my TV not pay and get three different broadcast news options I’m tired of paying for shit. I’m tired of having a subscription for shit. You know what I realize I don’t need any of this shit.

Someone on Nextdoor saying that kids not having cell phones in schools is a “death sentence” for them. Somehow people born before cell phones were still alive to invent them.

Stop saying “we” should do something when you want me to do it. I am super-literal, and easily annoyed, so I will purposefully not think of “we” as “me.” Also, you’re going to have to actually tell me to do it because you’ve annoyed me.

I completely support this because married people get double the exemption of what a single person does for the sale of the same house (purchase/sale price). I don’t mind paying the tax, but a single person shouldn’t have to pay more.

A growing push in Congress would reduce — or eliminate — capital gains tax on the sale of a primary home. Here’s why such proposals could have an outsize impact in the Bay Area.
