Nah mate I was a president after Gough got shafted until 1980. Shafting the leader is standard no matter the party. I'm centre as well but the kowtowing to lobbyists is a problem for me. Still better than the alternatives

MrLiquid@mrliquid.bsky.social · 13h agoYes it's a drug ofcourse. The mismatch is between banning an activity and banning its advertising. So the tobacco ban on advertising is a better analog to a gambling ad ban.
And tobacco isn't a drug? Ok then what is it. I did a quick surface of the #science behind addiction. It's not that remarkable that similarities exist between different #causalities and the outcome

Not actually true. Obviously harm minimisation goes further than just restricting the constant flooding advertising. #govts being gifts want to do the least possible. The ban is more about helping the currently addicted get help, if they want, and to reduce the impact on the impressionable. #auspol

Exactly! If they don’t get their relief from one thing they’ll get it from another. And sometimes that relief is violence at home.

Well that's a pont. I'm not talking prohibition just every platform cannot include ads during plays /replays. Prohibiting #Cigarette ads reduced smoking until #vaping, which the #addicts believe is harmless lol. The #science of addiction when you wanna stop then constant #temptation #bad 1/2
