One of my all time favorite episodes. We may call a lot of Batman villains "criminally insane" but Zeus is actively delusional. He meets Batman and just adds him to the delusion. He's surrounded by people too scared or greedy to question the rich guy with a lightning gun.
Maxie Zeus makes his sole BTAS appearance in "Fire from Olympus." This CEO turned villain with a god complex wants to rule over Gotham with a powerful electric cannon. It's an amusing script, especially when Maxie arrives at Arkham and finds himself truly "at home" among the pantheon of rogues.
Make your favorite film sound as boring as possible without giving away the title: Eight hours of walking

In the old days of Bluesky, we followed only one law... Poe's Law.
The number of people who did not make it to the end of this post before replying, or did but did not clock that it was a joke, is genuinely concerning
Belle: I want adventure in the great wide somewhere. Or failing that, I'll settle for a jacked rich guy who lives within walking distance from my house.
As always, people who claim to be above politics or who say "I don't do politics" are saying that the status quo benefits them and they don't want to mess with it.
I hate this kind of thing, because just beneath its surface is a smug piety that treats "politics" as nothing but mess and rancor rather than as something with a direct connection to people's lives, and argues for being "above politics" as a kind of virtue. It's so dishonest. Anyway, good morning.
I really feel like it should be bigger news that fibreglass is in IV saline bags in the US. This isn’t a situation where you might get a little sick. Fibreglass going directly into your veins will kill you. IV saline is used for almost every medical procedure. This is unconscionable:

I don't agree with arsonists but firefighters are too aggressive for me. I wish there was a... third way
People posting on social media: "You know what I *don't* want? Attention."

Me, smugly, as the goon squad leads us to the gas chamber: "Actually, this isn't fascism and it's deeply unserious to call it that."
Yeah, see, there's a reason we do not define ideologies or historical movements as "a thing which happens as a result of causes X and Y" because that is assuming the conclusion. You define ideologies and movements by their ideas and principles and then ask why those emerged when and where they did.
Honestly, on balance, it has been a glorious summer.
Feels like someone's playing fucking Battleship and getting closer and closer but hitting a Pacific island paradise with each miss.
Think about Miss Piggy. She lost a best friend and now an ex-lover in matter of 24 hours.
All except one of course. Dolly Parton took the Carnegie model and ran with it. My kids get books from her Imagination Library every month. My oldest is going to treat her passing like the loss of a family member.
Andrew Carnegie: So here's an incredibly simple blueprint I've made to not be reviled for your wealth. It takes no effort and you keep most of your money. Other rich people: eh.
Time was you could roll out a janky piece of tech and people would see the potential, talk about how far it has come, how much work it took. Now we deride it for how far it still has to go. The difference? They didn't used to frame all new tech as dunking on human achievement.
A Chinese humanoid robot outran Usain Bolt’s 100-meter sprint world record on the opening day of the World Humanoid Robot Games in Beijing, posting a time of 9.39 seconds — 0.19 faster than Bolt’s pace in 2009.
Thoroughly random thought sparked by this: illumination determines the length of the GM's responses to questions describing the area. So, if you're exploring an area with only a flickering candle, you get two or three words, max. If you've got a torch, ten words; Light spell, unlimited.
I like the way the room names of Tomb of Armansquagulat (by the 3d6DTL guys) show the level of illumination in the room at a glance. I've seen a few iterations of this idea but this one is sticky. Notice how Area 1 is lit, Area 2 is partially lit, and Area 3 is dark. Neat!
Preschooler- is water healthy? Me- Yes, water is the most important thing for life. Well, water and air. Preschooler- Papa! No it's not. The most important thing for life is gravity. .... Damn. He's got me there. #parenting #science
In elementary school our library had a summer reading contest between the grades. One point per book read. My class lobbied to change that to one per book or 100 pages read. These dipshits would have just spammed Dr Seuss
Chewing my arm off, bloody foam speckling my lips, screaming. Just screaming, forever.
I've finally seen Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Whatever magical filter has been keeping the spoilers off my feed can go off now. I would like to talk about it now.
Sequence: Preschooler climbs over playroom fence, sits on top, falls backwards onto the floor, starts crying. I bend to pick him up and keys in my pocket set off car alarm. Baby starts crying due to alarm. Less than 30 seconds from normal to cartoonish chaos. (Everyone is fine)
Hey babe, sorry dinner was a little late. I had to rearrange your dinner into a monkey face.
Everyone needs a black and white photo of your dad like this. Where he looks young and vital and like he's thrilled to be your dad. I have one and I need to need to make sure I set one up for my kids (Obviously this is much harder for second children)

I have my best ideas when I'm doing something tedious: folding laundry, chopping vegetables, washing dishes. If you tell me you use AI to get ideas, you're basically saying you don't do chores.
