The last I checked, our local Cineworld was neglected, run down, and staffed entirely by poorly paid youngsters who clearly had better things to do. But to be fair to them, they are showing these two movies on the big screen this month, so I shall be there and give them another chance.
Now I have heard The Beatles singing the music of Barry Gray, I guess my needs are complete!
I had a look at my purchase history at Intrada yesterday and noticed it is, give or take a couple of weeks, 20 years since I bought my first INCHON (possibly not the pictured edition—I've lost track of what's what with this title) and 10 years since the big TEN COMMANDMENTS box set. How time flies!
I must say, these look lovely. Way out of my price range though! propstoreauction.com/lot-details/...
My latest audiobook. I love the films by Tarkovsky and Soderbergh but the author supposedly felt neither film really grasped what he conveyed in his book. Now is my chance to explore that claim for myself.
A fabulous television music release from Intrada records.
Today's Star Trek goes Shakespeare in space: The Conscience of the King.
I’m no graphic designer, but yellow seems an odd choice of dominant color for the cover of the new reissue of William Peter Blatty’s novel of THE EXORCIST. Is it just me?
Today's Star Trek. Making innovative use of the then unseen Captain Pike pilot, The Cage, we have The Menagerie Part 1.
Today's Star Trek. One of the greatest. The first episode filmed for the regular series but the tenth one out. The Corbomite Maneuver.
The last round of holiday photos. This time from Taranto.
My early morning film in 4K. While most of England still sleeps...
Speaking of discs, my dear friend Charlie, @filmsonwax.bsky.social sent me this in response to my current interest in the films, music, and book of Solaris.
Believe it or not, I am buying less discs at the moment, but a lot of preorders seem to be showing up at once!
On this date in 1979, composer John Barry started recording his score for the Disney space disaster movie, The Black Hole.
The accordian player was playing Nino Rota, by the way. Love theme from The Godfather. More photos from our holiday in the Puglia region of Italy. Now let us take you to Alberobello.
