Looking Back - Mass Effect Andromeda I desperately wanted to like this game. To be fair I think they got the Mass Effect setting right. The gameplay is so boring. Go here, kill 7 enamies, platform, then drive 5 min to the next location to do it all over again. Didnt even try to finish this one.
Still Thinking About - A Plague Tale: Innocence Don't sleep on this one. As a fan of story and stealth games this one definatly scratches an itch. The story, gameplay characters, and horror is all perfect. Challenging yet accessible. Epic but short. I especially loved the ending, so freaking cool!
Immediate Thoughts - Underworld 3 Less epic and lore-heavy than Evolution, but in a worse way. Loved the focus back on Selene without a million moving parts though. The hybrid daughter storyline sounds bad on paper, but it actually worked and showed a rare, human side to Selene that I enjoyed.
Still Thinking About - NFS Heat Hard for me to lock into racing games, but Need for Speed Heat nails it. Fair progression, deep customization, and racing through Miami is top tier vibes. The day/night split carries the game legit pro races by day, illegal street races escaping cops by night.
Looking Back - Alien 3 👽👽👽 By far my least favorite, but low key I would be happy to watch again. It feels cheap compared to all the others, like it was made on a budget. There were production issues that probably led to this result. It is a bummer because the premise is really fun and creative.
Looking Back - Dead Island 🧟♀️🏝️🩸🌊👙🐚🩸 🏖️🧟♂️ All DI games are fantastic Coop experiences. My least favorite of the 3 but that’s more personal preference. The beautiful athstetic of a colourful luxurious island filled with blood thirsty zombie hits. Challenge mode is great! Game still holds up very well.
Why it works - Aliens 👽 👽 Aliens remains my favorite of the franchise. It leans more action than horror/scifi, but the characters keep me coming back. Newt, badass Latina, and the enemy at the end are executed to perfection. As an accessible sci-fi story, I absolutely adore this film. Great Lore!
People Misunderstand - Darkness 2 Total 180 from the first game. Gameplay is simple and addictive, only 7 hours in length so that’s not an issue. Would highly recommend, game does good at balancing power fantasy and difficulty. Crazy art style and gore as you rip people apart with your powers.
Why it works- Underworld 2 🩸 Evolution gives you total whiplash compared to the first. It feels so much more improved to watch. Plot feels like a pivotal moment in their history. Gone is the petty drama between certain members from the first film; this one addresses the actual catalyst of the war.
Why it works - Alien Ranking this as my third favorite Alien movie. The contained story allows for a slow, well paced unraveling of the crew’s control. It aged remarkably well. A must watch for fans of great effects, retro future aesthetic, strong lead characters, and pure thriller tension.
Looking back - The Darkness Actual trash experience. This game clearly has a good premise, and the vibes are on point but oh god feels like it takes place at the bottom of a lake of glue. At no point did I feel like I could actually control what my character was doing. Uninstalled after 45 minutes.
People Misunderstand - Underworld 🧛♀️ Underworld sets up my absolute favorite depiction of vampires, even if it isn't a great film. 🩸 A bit schlocky and overstuffed, but it does the heavy lifting so the sequels can actually shine. 🦇 Read below if this spiked your interest.

Imediate Thoughts - Shutter Island DiCaprio masterfully portrays raw grief, paranoia, and deep-seated trauma. Instead of rushing the ending, Scorsese lets the tension simmer. The deliberate pacing lets every single layer of the puzzle breathe so the final realization hits twice as hard. 1/2
One time the power went out in an intense speeder gunfight in Star Wars Outlaws. Mfs were blowing up and we were speeding round rocks n shit. *poof* reality 💀. Game never got that exciting again 😭
Looking back - The Odyssey Has Nolan’s time jumping and loudness but comparatively, it’s way more accessible for general audiences. I’m glad he flexed his directorial muscles, but seriously, where is Tenet 2? Jokes aside, it’s a narratively impressive execution and Nolan’s most emotional film.

People Misunderstand - Gotham Knights This game got dogged at launch, which obviously didn’t help convince consumers. A lot of people have played this I know, but lots haven’t! not in solo play but have a beer/wine with a friend and this is a good time! Fun movement and popcorn-equivalent combat.
Just Finished - Martyrs Honestly didn’t love it. Very The Last of Us vibes (depression porn). I am biased as I don’t usually enjoy foreign films as much. The BEST makeup and gore effects I have ever seen by far. If you love feeling awful then watch this. And admittedly, I do from time to time.

Soundtrack Spotlight Destiny 2 I stopped playing when Sony fired the Composers that had made music for the Destiny IP. Michael Salvatori and Skye Lewin. Their music made the game feel epic often featuring orchestras, synth production, and war drums. My favorite- 'Gambit' (Song for the game mode)
Still Thinking About Call of Cathulu 2018 It’s great Lovecraft. Excels at atmosphere, story, and gameplay. I loved how the main character's slow descent feels like A Cure for Wellness: The Game. Slow, story driven investigation with rare, genuinely terrifying stealth sections.
