Voice through Employee Resource Groups (ERGs)

This is a video abstract of our paper Távora, I., Saqib, S. I., & Kauser, S. (2026). Advancing Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Through Voice for All: The Role of Employee Resource Groups. British Journal of Management, 37(1), Drawing on 36 interviews with EDI officers and ERG chairs, the paper examines whether ERGs can act as meaningful employee voice mechanisms for under-represented groups. The discussion shows that ERGs can influence both group-specific issues and wider strategic EDI change, but their impact depends on formal and informal voice channels, organizational support, and effective self-governance. The study offers a new model for understanding and strengthening ERG voice in organizations and improving inclusive workplace practice today.
