The Tories didn't even try to compete with Reform or Restore. An emerging feature of multi-party politics is that it seems parties are increasingly making all-or-nothing decisions about deploying resources.

TIL is that you want your thoroughbred to be born as close as possible after Jan 1/Aug 1 so it's as big/old as it can be for its racing season vs other same age horses. Horses born in Dec/July are...unwanted (and it's obvs worse if you spent hundreds of thousands on the foal, before it was born).

As much as Starmer was irrationally and angrily hated online I don't think this is a purely social media thing either? E.g. Hollande was elected in France on this basis back in 2012 and got the instant cold shoulder. PMs gotta rizz, at least a little.

Industry-led "content provenance" is, and has always been, a corporate cover-up. The ultimate in saying you're doing something to policy makers while doing nothing for users. It's funny therefore that Google seems to have forgotten it.
