Cellular neurobiologist TIFR India who loves genetics, live imaging and worms. Science is fun, let's go exploring. Sci comm, write bad poetry, 2 girl mom lab: https://tinyurl.com/5n7s6ens https://scholar.google.co.in/citations?user=c4zDSQ8AA

I think of a talk like an hourglass. Start broad, get narrow, end broad. So I usually try to end with a brief visual summary (I am not a fan of bullet pointed summaries) and then try to place the work back into the big picture if I can. Good luck!

Trainee Uma: ATG18 catalyzes a budding process that could be directly involved in regulating morphology. Thomas Pucadyil, IISER-Pune: EHD1 is an ATP dependent cutter. Dynamin is involved in retromer trafficking & differentially regulated by EHD family members. #OBMT26

Sunando Dutta, IISER-Bhopal introduces 2 roads to metastasis-single cell or collective invasion. Trainee Amrita: HGF/MET facilitates the invadopodia led charge of cell migration thru the ECM. KIF16B drives MET to invadopodia surface delivery #OBMT26

Suchismita: -vely charged nanoparticles are intracellularly retained more than +vely charged NP. The intracellular compartment of +ve & -ve NPs varies as do their mobility & directionality. Content/type of NP inside vesicle may organize membrane surface compsition. Nitin Mohan lab,IIT-Kanpur #OBMT26

Clathrin heavy chains mutants associated with intellectual disability. Disease CHC mutants over-expressed in Dm ⬇️ ligand uptake on heat stress, no structural or functional defects at the pre-synapse NMJ but alters post-synaptic architecture and impaired learning. Deepa Subramanyam, NCCS #OBMT26

Allosteric activation switches of AP2. Akshay: Levels of Muniscin family members influence clathrin mediated Transferrin endocytosis. Sarvesh: Phosphorylation of AP2 via BMPK2 & AAK1 regulates clathrin-mediated endocytosis Umasankar Perunthottam lab, NCCS-DBT #OBMT26

Deep dive into how fusion is mediated by viral fusogen proteins w/ pre-fusion, extension & post-fusion confirmations. A fusion loop tryptophan that inserts in the membrane & is enough to cause membrane structure disruption. Tirumala Kumar Chowdary, NISER #OBMT26

Success of the pathogen is the reprogramming of the host cell function. Mtb induces lysosome biogenesis & redistributes them in infected cells via an Mtb lipid. Anterograde lysosome motility is enhanced by Mtb lipids. Varadha Sundaramurthy, NCBS-TIFR #OBMT26

Wingless trafficking occurs with its R where dissociation does not occur during the anterograde route. Wg is internalized together with its cargo R & dissociates in acidic endosomes. Varun Choudhury, IISER-Bhopal. Student Aendrila shows role of TRAPP complex in Wg trafficking. #OBMT26

K-leak channels are non-gated, are always open, imp resting membrane potential & the E/I ratio. Help in cognitive resilience in neurodegenerative disease. 2Pore K channels are on mitochondria & modulate mitochondrial membrane potential. Swagata Ghatak, NISER #OBMT26

Mon1 regulates Drosophila growth through insulin signalling and in a RAB7 independent manner on neuronal morphogenesis. Mon1 acts cell non-autonomously to control post-synaptic glutamate receptors at the NMJ. Anuradha Ratnaparkhi, Agharkar Research Institute #OBMT26

Multistep entry of Influenza virus introduced by Indranil Banerjee, IISER-Mohali. Student Kajal Gupta shows pro-viral roles for TRIM proteins in viral entry via endocytosis. WASH & retromer have opposing roles in IAV endocytosis that is modulated by TRIM. #OBMT26

Insep/IER3IP1 loss leads to cell division defects & Rab11 vesicle accumulation in Drosophila neuroblasts/human cells. Insep interacts w/ Yip1d1, whose loss leads to cytokinesis failure & Rab11 vesicle accumulation. Sonal Jaiswal, CCMB-CSIR #OBMT26
