Ruffles the feathers of most things Winnipeg related

“He won't or maybe can't say what he's mad about, and doesn't bother asking for answers. He just asks and asks, in escalating tones of impatience, why no one is asking the questions.” Exceptionally written, and an unfortunately astute reflection of what people consider ‘inquisitive’ today

I wrote about the triumph of Doing Your Own Research and the stupid, nasty thing that is replacing some very recent history in real time. defector.com/were-just-go...

I think it's time to recognize that if you subscribe to The Athletic and share their stuff, you are supporting a larger framework that absolutely demands bigotry be treated with some level of decorum. It's not quite the Harry Potter fan dilemma, but it's not far off from it.

An image of a skeet from The Athletic with the link and image cropped out (because fuck them).

Aaron Rodgers spoke out about Dr. Anthony Fauci. Sophie Cunningham spoke out about transgender athletes. Caitlin Clark chose not to weigh in.

Three different approaches, one common result: criticism.

Steve Buckley on how athletes can't win on social media:

The WNBA has never had a trans woman play in the league’s 30-year history and now the right and other anti-trans activists are hammering the league over something that has never been an issue, proving once again it isn’t about protection but exhibiting cruelty toward trans people.

Tommy Condell gave Brown the Elgersma playbook to prevent him from playing heroball. Guess they don’t think BC will outscore however many FGs Castillo will make tonight

So Rogers raises the price for Sportsnet+ and then sells even more games to Amazon meaning less games to watch on SN+. Double dipping while reducing their own expenditures. Lmao

Rogers and /SportsOnPrimeCA announce a 12-year sublicensing agreement that will see Amazon broadcast Wednesday night games nationally across 🇨🇦. Amazon will also broadcast select #StanleyCup playoff series in 🇨🇦 - two first-round matchups and one second-round series per year.

Most politicians dislike Mamdani because he actually loves the job. They love the trappings of the job but hate the actual work, so they don't do it. Mamdani, to their chagrin, sets a bar they can't meet with respect to showing voters what's possible with governance.

Kevin M. Kruse@kevinmkruse.bsky.social · last wk.

Once more: Mamdani understands that you can't just do things in politics and expect voters will notice on their own and thank you for it. You've got to work just as hard selling yourself to voters once you're in office as you did selling yourself to them to get into office. This is the way.

If you really think fascism in america is magically going to be defeated without you and everyone you know giving up some stupid little bit of comfort in your life, or more likely a *bunch* of stupid little comforts, you are extremely naive.

I want companies that have profited from contracts with ICE to go out of business. I want companies that have gone all in on AI to go out of business. I want companies that cause nationwide diarrhea outbreaks to go out of business. I want companies that give money to fascists to go out of business.
