On behalf of the WGA, thank you to all of our dedicated volunteers and back-ups who contributed to our 2026 Casino Fundraiser! Casino Fundraisers bring in nearly $80,000 of funding for the WGA. We hope to see everyone again soon!

Calgary, see you this week! Our special July host for Speak Up YYC will be local community builder and writer Alot of Poetry. Speak Up is a free community open mic and feature series in Calgary that takes place once a month.

The WGA is in URGENT need for a Volunteer on July 31, 2026 to fill a Banker role at our Casino Fundraiser. This role runs from 10:00 AM to 7:15 PM MT and offers or extends free WGA membership for the year and free meals and snacks on shift. We will also cover any transportation costs for volunteers.

Do you know a creatively inclined teenager who would love to learn more about writing? There are a few spots left at the WGA's annual summer creative writing camp, WordsWorth! Week Two takes place from July 26 to 31, 2026 for campers aged 15-19.
